He's declaring for the NFL today. What he said at that press conference was him being what scares me about him. Unsure, unreliable, uncertain, and he is unprepared mentally for what is about to be his future.
Being a successful QB in the NFL has more to do with being mentally and mature above average than it does about being psychically above average.Steelers 2015 Draft???....Go Freak! As in....

I would have been able to come up with the same thought about him with the sound off based on his body language that day and what I have seen of him before the press conference. Anyways...he says at this time I'm not ready for the NFL, yet. Two days later....folks scream in his ear, "Wait!!..money, money, money!!"...and he changes from what he said and declares for the NFL draft.Steelers 2015 Draft???....Go Freak! As in....

It's not hard to understand. And I'd hardly call my feelings about him a "beef". He scares me. It's a maturity thing. A mental thing. Combine that with big money and big expectations and the "bust" comes up in my head with him more than I would like it to.Last edited by Dee Dub; 01-15-2015, 02:40 PM.Steelers 2015 Draft???....Go Freak! Nitpicking? Ok add all those things with the fact he has started a whopping 3 games, and his comments about education and why the necessity for it (para phrasing here), and I dont think nitpicking should even come into the equation. You need a much strong word than nitpicking.Steelers 2015 Draft???....Go Freak! As in....

He has been famous for about 30 days, hes 22 years old, and hes in a pretty complicated situation regarding his future and he just had a baby.
Staying at OSU does nothing for him....even if he wins the starting job over the 5th place heisman 1st team all Big 10 QB they currently have, the OSU offense does nothing to prepare him for the pros.
He could transfer, but that risks sitting out a year and one more year of eligibility and entering the draft in 2 years. But will his momentum ever be this high again? I highly doubt it.
If it were me I dont know what I would do, but im sure youd think im some immature thug lolComment

What round does a team take a flyer on a guy that has played 3 college games, the Big 10 championship game (won), NC semi-final (won, beat the #1 team) and NC final (won, beat the #2 team)?
What would you think if the Steelers used their 3rd or 4th on him?
If the Steelers get a 4th round comp for Sanders, would that be a selection to use if he were available?
Edit: Just assume that he's declaring since there appears to be some indecision.

Is this guy immature?
Don't blame Ohio State's Cardale Jones if he decides to turn pro
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- If Cardale Jones wants to turn pro, I have no problem with that. In fact, I'd probably advise him to do so, especially if ESPN's Mel Kiper is right in projecting Jones as a second or third-round pick.
Yes, I know his on-field college career is three games. But it is a college career unlike anyone has ever seen.
Not better, but shockingly different.
The Ohio State quarterback won three of the biggest games of the season -- and did it on a huge stage.
If Jones were guaranteed to start for the Buckeyes next season, it would make more sense to stay in school. Of course, the reason to go back for another year would be to enhance his draft position.
But J.T. Barrett is probably the superior quarterback. No one would be talking about Jones had Barrett remained healthy. Barrett has all the tools to be a first-round NFL pick, and I believe the Buckeyes would have won a national title with him under center.
Coach Urban Meyer has assembled a big-time roster with NFL-caliber players all over the place.
Remember that Jones lives in the real world of growing up poor, having a child and looking at a chance for some real money.
Last season, Browns second-rounder Joel Bitonio signed a four-year, $3.7 million contract -- with $2.3 million guaranteed. Third-rounder Chris Kirksey signed a four-year, $3.4 million deal -- with $662,000 guaranteed.
If Jones came from a middle class home, it would be a different story. Remaining at OSU would make more sense, despite the looming dollars. But that's not his situation.
And the reason he became a national name was because the two quarterbacks in front of him were injured -- Braxton Miller and Barrett.
That's right, injured.
Jones is playing football, not checkers. Yes, he's 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds. He's a raging bull when he takes off running. He has a rocket launcher for an arm.
But this is football, people get hurt ... all the time. Injuries can dramatically change careers and draft positions. Just ask Braxton Miller.
If Jones wants to stay in school, that's outstanding. In the long run, that should help him as a person and a player. But it's hard to take the long-term view in his situation where there are so many variables.
Physically, if you compare him to many NFL quarterbacks -- Jones is far more gifted.
Can he handle the mental part of the game, the pressure and develop the leadership skills of Andrew Luck or Russell Wilson?
No one knows.
But you can be sure there are at least a few quarterback-desperate NFL teams that would like to find out.
Yes, there are risks -- either way. Go to the pros to early and not be ready? Go back to school and something happens, messing up a pro future? Who knows?
And if you are a 22-year-old Jones, do you grab the NFL money while you can, especially in this quarterback-poor draft?
So if Jones turns pro, don't blame him. Cheer for the young man who was faced with a very hard decision and did what he believes is best for him.Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.Comment

Matt Cassel was taken in the 7th.
After Winston and Mariota at the very top, this is not a good draft for QB's. UCLA's Hundley and Colorado State's Grayson are likely to go on day two of the draft, but everyone else looks like a day 3 prospect at this point, so this kid could sneak into the mix on potential alone.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment
