Mariota is a pretty unique talent...he could catch on in a russell wilson like offense or a traditional one, but he could suck at both too. I just think him as a #1 overall draft pick is a complete joke

If Philly gets him it will be a problem. I'm not sold on him in a traditional offense.

or safeties, I remember Dub telling everyone how Taylor Mays was this incredible physical freak that was going to be an All-Pro safety that the Steelers should have drafted in the first round.

his mock drafts and player evaluations are always useful for a good laugh though...
I was a big fan of the Landry Jones pick just because he wasn't a Black running QB (self hate)...

but I also watched him at OU and knew he was HORRIBLE under pressure and in crunch time.

Philly would have to sell their souls to move up that high....which i would be ok with a franchise crippling trade like that

Forcing any quarterback into playing time save for the Dan Marino, Andrew Luck talent level is never a good idea and the teams that do that tend to ruin a quarterback because they simply aren't ready for prime time.

They may snatch Trae Waynes away from us since they pick 2 slots ahead.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

My two cents, I listened to Dee Dub talk up Landry Jones. When I watched Landry in college, I saw a skilled passer who played well with a clean pocket, but appeared scared when under pressure, had zero escapability, and frankly, was not special in any way. But, I figured I was probably wrong since Dee Dub (or whatever his pre-ban name was then) liked him very much.

Conversely, when I look at Cardale, I see potential, poise, and instincts. Nevermind the incredible size, arm strength, and running ability. I see a guy who could be a true franchise QB. Of course, he could fizzle out and never fully realize his potential. Of course, he is still maturing and may never become adequately mature to be a true leader. But, to discount his potential, question his leadership ability, and talk about him as if he'd be a cancer to a team because he made a stupid tweet and some rather innocuous press conference comments is simply short-sighted, close-minded, and perhaps racist. After all, your beloved Roethlisberger has said and done some very questionable and probably stupid and selfish things in his career. People make mistakes. But, strong people grow. So far, Cardale has shown the desire to grow and mature, the ability to lead, and some incredible physical skill. Sure, he is a LONG way from an NFL QB. But, imo, he is already closer than Landry Jones. I look forward to watching him next season at OSU. Perhaps, he and Barrett will both play. I think Meyer could make that work.
is it possible for a black man to be a racist against a black QB? Not sure...

Dee Dub probably only watched these guys one time and they just happened to have a good game so he gets a man crush on them and feels the need to convince everyone else too.

Dub just gets very invested in his opinions...he will go down with the ship even when faced with solid evidence he is wrong...disappear for months...come back only to do it all over again.

Both are big, strong, athletic black guys, are young, have shown each shown maturity issues in their own way. Yup, not at all comparable.

One is accused of multiple criminal acts. That goes beyond "maturity" and makes it a false comparison. It's like comparing a jaywalker to a sex offender.

Dub possesses a wealth of football knowledge...he's just wrong on players from time to time (as we all are).

And he's not the only one on this board that has a hard time admitting their mistakes.

Wouldn't touch this kid with a 10 foot pole. What is between his ears is going to be magnified in the NFL when big dollars are thrown at him. I will not question his physical abilities. They are off the charts. But he scares me big time. I see a potential of anywhere from a Ryan Leaf to JeMarcus Russell.

He has a problem with education. That is a problem for an NFL QB.
How'd that "problem with education" work out this week? Oh, and the kid is on track to graduate on time (actually a semester early). Snap judgments are a mofo eh?
