Until we get better NT and LDE play, this teams rush defense will suffer which means the defense will be facing 3rd and short which also is going to hurt our pass rush.... but for those on this board that continue to say the NT is obsolete, keep telling yourself that if it makes you happy. The rest of us will live in reality while you all live in fantasy land.

After two weeks.... Our "best defensive player" has been one of the worst players on the field..... He can't cover average TEs (elite speed? thats laughable) and can't play the run very well either. Can you guess who I'm talking about? Yup... Lawrence Timmons.

Don't sign Worilds to a long term deal and cut Timmons. We won't see much (if any at all) of a drop off with Vince Williams or Spence at ILB.

That will free up plenty of money next year to sign Big Ben and sign a good veteran CB.

Speaking of LBs, the Steelers played 7 of them vs. the Ravens. Why Terrence Garvin was in on a key play (burned in the endzone) is beyond me. Also saw alot of Spence and Vince Williams. Were the other guys getting tired?

Timmons was throwing up on the field... i heard others were too.. humidity, short week, and being stuck on the field because of the offense not doing much were factors..

I remember that. During the game in the chat room, I was like - what the @#$% is Garvin doing in a goal line situation.

So why were the Ravens not gassed? The Steelers seemed exhausted in the second half of the Browns game (even after having half time) and now we're hearing about players throwing up and struggling. Does any one do conditioning in the off season?

According to Wolfley, Timmons was sick, not gassed. He confirmed him throwing up on the sidelines as well.

They tagged him to put some stability at the position for a season and to see how he plays as the starter playing for a contract. It's only the second game, he still has time to turn it around.

I'd rather have Moats at LOLB than Worilds. It was foolish to pay him almost $10 million for having 8 decent games last year. He and Jones only have a sack because they were going against TEs and single blocked. At least Jones is a 2nd year player. Worilds has no excuse since he is going up against average to below average RTs and can't sniff the QB or even hold the point against the run. He's horrible.

In some packages, I think using Shazier for the occasional blitz off the corner is fine. But I think there is no way that he moves to OLB. If Worilds shows that the handful of good games he strung together last year were a fluke, than the Steelers will need to find another solution at OLB.
clay matthews wasnt much bigger when he broke into the league.

i'd rather see him in space where he can use his speed. then inside getting washed in the trash among offensive lineman coming at him. we've already seen plenty of that with timmons
he might be just to darn fast for RTs to handle.

and going back a bit, i beleive greg lloyd played at a very light weight, 225 IIRC
