The Piitsburgh media calls it "The Ward Paranoia".
THAT'S why I quoted the facebook stuff, where the FIRST THING he says is how great the team and specific players were. He's personally written a bunch about the team.

Read kiwis tweet quote. Lots about team, and how he must improve.

The Piitsburgh media calls it "The Ward Paranoia".
This is where I think we agree.
But far from arrogance, it is based on insecurity, quite the opposite.
I think Hines has a severe case of "small man syndrome".

But I think this is what makes him achieve.

no it's not if it keeps him motivated....

Ben still uses the draft as motivation...

Aaron and Keisel use age as motivation

every player has a "this is for the haters" routine.

The only thing outdated is your hate for Hines.

Ben uses the draft as motivation because he wants to beat the 10 teams who passed on him. Hines claims every year that media, fans, say he's done.

                Where? Who? When?

Just like the whole name on the helmet "because he has to make the team".

He did this in 2006 also, mere months after signing the biggest contract in team history, where was he going? He was in no danger of losing his job.

                  Crash, who cares?

I think you may be over the line with your anti Ward obsession. This is like the Rooney slandering. When someone is high on everyone's list, some people feel slighted and have to take a shot at them to knock them down a bit. Never understood our own fans needing to do this. I assume jealousy.

Madden is the biggest douche I have ever heard in Pittsburgh. Mostly just saying things to get a reaction.

                  --------------------------
So Ward needs a bit of self-whipping to get going? The kid produces every year none stop. He prefers a little incline on his treadmill of life, so be it.

HOW can you thrash the guy that is clearly the team captain and identity? He is no more "I" than any player in the entire league. We have clips on this thread about him talking up the other players on the team , WHILE mentioning mistakes he made.

The problem is you take his quotes out of context without seeing the questions he was asked.

And why do people think he hates Ben? Hines talks too quickly to the media for sure. But what of him walking up to Ben to 'escort' him on the first day of camp when clearly Ben is nervous. He's a teammate of Ben and if you've ever played sports, you'll know that some gets get on your nerves while you still like them in doses. You are not best buds with everyone, but normally you enjoy the everyone en masse. So maybe he doesn't hang out with Ben and all WRs fight with their QBs for the ball.

Swann and Stallworth did it with Terry, yet Terry promoted both for the Hall.
Name 1 WR that didn't have some kind of aggressive relationship with his QB? They all have yelled at the QB in the huddle for the ball at some point and after 5 years of battle, I'm sure he and Ben have had a few shouting matches. But a whole lot more laughs.

lmaoooooooooooooo! I feel bad for giving you attention, but wow - like you LITERALLY believe Hines will be miserable when they induct him? That's gotta be something you just say for comic effect right?
Hines is one of its kind but do you all think Hines Ward is a HOF???

I have my doubts. 78 TD don't impress me. Art Monk took ages to get there. Chris Carter is getting snubbed.

I think Hines will reach there eventually but Larry,Andre Johnson,Randy Moss, Ochostinko and TO will reach HOF ahead of Hines Ward.

I don't think many expect him to be a first ballot guy. Moss is ahead of him and they will retire about the same time. I don't think Fitz or AJohnson make it in first because they will have a long wait since they are very young. Also if either gets hurt significantly in the next couple years, they would never make it in. So they are not guarantees yet, like someone at the back end of a career. TO will also have a longer wait than he wants.

How in the hell is Ocho getting in first? Seriously, I will fight you to the death for thinking he gets in first. How is he better? Let's watch 85's next couple seasons to see if he can ever keep pace. It gets harder as you age. He's never won anything either. Caught 2 passes in last playoff game. Nice effort. To the VICTORS go the spoils. Not the also rans on teams forced to throw alot to chase teams beating their arse.

Re: Hines Ward: "Every year, I seem to amaze myself"

If the voters for the HOF look at Hines Ward as a football player and not a WR only he will get in long before many of you believe he will get in. When Hines Ward is done he will probably have 1000+ catches, 90+ TDs, 12,500+ yards and will be known as a complete football player at the WR position, because of his propensity to knock people on the arses when he's blocking them.

He isn't first ballot which should be reserved for those rare players that transcend the game or have brought about changes to the way the game is played, Jack Lambert, Jack Ham, Mel Blount, Mike Webster, Dan Marino, Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Walter Payton, Jim Brown, etc. After that, great is great and Hines Ward has been great for a long time.

Hines definitely has to stop this "I" stuff. He should know that prima donna wideouts go third person.

                          "Hines Ward caught 95 balls"

                          "Hines Ward finally beat Atlanta"

The next time he flies over to Korea in the offseason, we need to force him to take a detour Down Under for some third person lessons from Chadman.

Seriously, though...I'll take Hines' above-mentioned "I" statements over other "I" statements like, say...

"I want to go out bar-hopping to 3 different podunk Georgia bars for my birthday."

                          or

"I want to invite only hot young coeds to the VIP area and buy them shots."

                          That's just me, though.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Wouldn't that be Crash going from message board to message board for the past 5 years paraphrasing Mark Madden in regards to Hines ? It's very disturbing for a grown man to be this obsessed with another grown man. At least we know Madden does it for ratings , Crash is just disturbed.

If I were Hines , I'd consider a restraining order.
