Re: Hines Ward: "Every year, I seem to amaze myself"
My take:
He may talk too much sometimes. HOWEVER, give me Hines over truly self-centered receivers like OchoStinko, TO, or Randy Moss any day.
Yes, Hines may whine at times, but he still produces on the field, and he shows every week that he's a team player. He continually puts his body on the line, does what it takes to help the team win, and he does it all with a smile on his face. He's also one of the few star WR's who, IMO, is in the game purely because he loves it. He doesn't have his own TV show or throw an attention-grabbing celebration every time he scores a TD. He's in football to play.
So yes, I think it's okay for him to pat himself on the back once in a while.
Plus, I didn't detect an "I'm better than everyone else" attitude from this article, more like an "I'm proud that I'm still playing at this level" attitude.
