Re: Hines Ward: "Every year, I seem to amaze myself"

    My take:

He may talk too much sometimes. HOWEVER, give me Hines over truly self-centered receivers like OchoStinko, TO, or Randy Moss any day.

Yes, Hines may whine at times, but he still produces on the field, and he shows every week that he's a team player. He continually puts his body on the line, does what it takes to help the team win, and he does it all with a smile on his face. He's also one of the few star WR's who, IMO, is in the game purely because he loves it. He doesn't have his own TV show or throw an attention-grabbing celebration every time he scores a TD. He's in football to play.

So yes, I think it's okay for him to pat himself on the back once in a while. Plus, I didn't detect an "I'm better than everyone else" attitude from this article, more like an "I'm proud that I'm still playing at this level" attitude.

Re: Hines Ward: "Every year, I seem to amaze myself"

There is nothing wrong at all with inviting women only to a VIP room. Frankly, I'd do the same thing. Why the feck would I want a bunch of douchebags like you in my private room when I can enjoy several young ladies.
I agree. But unfortunately Ward doesn't as far as Ben is concerned. If Ward is going to bash Ben for putting himself in a bad situation, then Ward himself needs to not do the same thing.

The difference between Ben and Hines is that Ben to some degree manhandled a young lady in a bathroom, exposing himself and acting like a total moron.
What was that about being slanderous? You have no proof, NONE, of the above statement as far as his conduct with Miss DTF.

Yeah Hines' comment that the suspension was justified was mild also huh?

Like I said, it only takes one female to start talking.

Ward should remember that after his next sermon to the media about Ben.

Because if the rumor that was posted on LetsGoPens.com about Hines years ago is true or if it ever got made public? Wow!

Thank God that some hack journalist didn't have Twitter back then...Mike Florio would have just run with it regardless of the veracity...

BTW, is LetsGoPens.com a public forum? Because, if it is, aren't any rumors on there made public by definition?
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Re: Hines Ward: "Every year, I seem to amaze myself"

Ward hasn't put himself in a bad situation. You can pick up a RUMOR online about anyone. You personally have no idea about Ward. You are making stuff up and probably planted the rumor yourself for some strange reason. Either way, Ward partying down with some chicks is certainly legal. What is your complaint here? Hearsay???

Ben did take a woman into the bathroom of a bar in a small college town and acted like a moron. He said he had sexual contact with her, which is the manhandling part. What did I say that wasn't true???
Being a moron is not the problem. I've been a moron plenty of time, but when it comes to publically walking the line on sexual situations, he was gonna get hammered. He is a face of the NFL. Its not a white/black thing like you keep mentioning. He gets more harsh treatment because the NFL had elevated him to a higher status, thus increasing his endorsements, etc. The league took a black eye for this, not a wetwilly like they do with some of the other doofuses in the league.

That said, I like both guys as Steelers.

              Kissing is sexual contact.

You weren't there. You don't know what Ben and Miss DTF did.

              I make nothing up.

FACT: Hines is no longer married.

FACT: Hines ran a bar with a convicted drug dealer.

Ward hasn't put himself in a bad situation
Sure he has. He's seen plenty of VIP rooms in his time in Pittsburgh.

              Just like Ben.

Re: Hines Ward: "Every year, I seem to amaze myself"

Why is Hines divorce a big deal? They happen all the time. Bringing up Hines' divorce is comedy and shows how bitter you are.

                Is Hines a marriage counselor?

Hines talks a lot but it's always been football related and you can't knock him for his opinion on his QB who has (drawn negative attention) and put the team in limbo 3 offseasons thus far.

There is nothing wrong with VIP status. If Ben did it without incident in GA and we found out about it later we would probably still be against it given the civil trial. Prior to Tahoe I'm sure Ben was in a ton of VIP sections and no one gave a damn.

Hines Ward: Steelers still angry about Titans' stomping on Terrible Towel

With the Pittsburgh Steelers visiting the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, the memory of the Titans' 2008 disrespecting of the Terrible Towels has come back into view.

Several Titans players stomped on the towels -- a favorite emblem of Steelers fans -- as Tennessee defeated Pittsburgh in a regular-season game in late 2008.

And Steelers WR Hines Ward said Wednesday that incident has not been forgotten.

"When you disrespect the towel, you are disrespecting the people here in Pittsburgh and all of Steeler Nation," Ward said. "(Steelers fans) still remember it and they will always remember that."

The Steelers went on to win Super Bowl XLIII after the snub by the Titans, who were en route to the AFC's top seed at the time of the incident. Former Titans LB Keith Bulluck got a Terrible Towel in the mail after the Steelers' Super Bowl win.

Will Ward and his teammates be mindful of the disrespect when they meet on Sunday?

"It doesn't matter," Ward said. "It is a disrespect to us, but we don't play for somebody stepping on a towel or not."

WHY did they get divorced? If it's because of his rumored numerous affairs that is also reckless behavior and he shouldn't be judging Ben, no?

sounds like Ben could pick up a few tips on the art of being discrete from Hines...

Ben was discreet in Tahoe and still got railroaded.

                            maybe.....

but I tend to lean towards the "hold me" theory...there is no such thing as a quickie when you are an NFL star.
