Not a plan, but I do find it funny when people just matter of fact say things like let's trade up in the first a draft a franchise QB. As a plan, that has as much chance of failure as anything else.

Agree 100%. The Steelers will draft a QB in 2026 but I won't say it's 100% sure they will draft one in round 1. A lot depends on their pick #, i.e., I don't think they will trade away a bunch of draft picks for the 4th or 5th best QB. It feels like Kahn/Weidl are taking the long approach with this rebuild. They still need another CB, OL, safety, and DL.

They’re stuck between thinking they’re a contender and going “most in” and rebuilding. If they pick at 20 or higher and wait for a QB to drop, they’ll get the scraps.

We won't know until next year, but I disagree (pretty strongly here).

I agree with you that teams probably shouldn't go all in for QB.

Because if you're taking the 4th or 5th best guy you are probably just going to waste the next 2-4 years finding out what you already know (not a starter).

But I do think we're going to take a QB no matter what. I think it's more about can we trade up or not.

          Again, we'll see...

This team has been stuck in that same limbo for years. It is the rarely talked about consequence of the no losing seasons streak. As a record, I've always thought of that as a weird anomaly. Not an impressive feat one year at a time, but like running for 1,000 yards (which is only 59 yards a game now) it's an oddity that it has gone on for so long without one bad season interrupting it. I put it up there with the string of 24 consecutive pre-season victories that Baltimore had. Interesting, but overall meaningless.

More importantly, it keeps the Steelers drafting somewhere around 20 every year. Never the chance to choose which game changer you want, and if you do decide to enter that area, it costs you a boatload (Devin Bush) so you'd better be right. That's the real story of this streak.

Our last losing season (6-10) yielded us Ben. Even lucky he dropped to #11,
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

3 sleeper prospects for the 2025 college season:

Shortly after the 2025 NFL Draft concluded, I wrote an article highlighting the top QB prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft class that the Pittsburgh Steelers should consider after they waited on addressing the position in the sixth round with Ohio State’s Will Howard, putting them squarely in-position to target their future of the franchise […]

With the 14 pick in the 2026 draft the Steelers select:

                        Round 1 - Pick 14

                        Fernando Mendoza QB
                        Indiana • Jr • 6'5" / 225 lbs

                        TDS
                        18
Pocket passer but not a statue; he buys time with subtle pocket movements, excels off-platform and when needed, can stride out in open field. Will get through reads while hanging in a pocket closing in around him. Consistently played with pressure in his face, yet consistently stood tall in the pocket and delivered strikes to all three levels on time and accurately. Ball consistently comes out on time and with touch/accuracy to all three levels. Good feel for pocket pressure, can climb with eyes downfield and deliver accurately off-platform.

btw, if they are picking 14th, that must mean Rudolph is the starter....

Yeah, Rodgers must have gotten injured and Mason was forced to start.

After this fiasco we are experiencing with us looking pathetic waiting around for Rodgers, there should be no doubt in anyone's mind that the front office is taking a QB next year in some way, shape or form.

Hopefully Manning plays well enough to come out and be the 1OA pick. That will push everyone else down.
