Is 2026 actually a good draft for QB’s???

I keep seeing this and glancing at prospects I don’t see anything special. Oh yeah.. Archie Manning!!! The kid with the dad who was a pro who hasn’t done jack squat yet in college but since his daddy is Manning he is going to be the best thing since Peyton? Doubt it

Beck is a fraud and Allar is not anything special.

All this to say, if we think we have a shot at a legit QB in the 2025 draft.. TAKE HIM!!!

There are currently six QBs who may potentially get selected in the 1st round of the 2026 NFL Draft:

    1) Arch Manning Texas
    2) Garrett Nussmeier LSU
    3) Nico Iamaleava UCLA
    4) Drew Allar Penn St
    5) LaNorris Sellers S Carolina
    6) Carson Beck Miami Fla

I'm sure there will be a couple of other risers, it will be fun to watch them next college season knowing the Steelers are likely drafting one to be our next franchise QB.

The only QB I really would like the Steelers to target in this draft is Will Howard. I think next year's group has quite a few more big names already than this draft...but there is a lot of football left to be played in 2025. In addition to more top talent, I think another significant consideration is the draft capital the Steelers will have next year.

I do agree that if there is a QB who they really like in the mid rounds, then don't eschew the bird in the hand for the two in next year's bush. But they better strongly believe that Sanders, Milroe, or Dart is a franchise QB, if they take one of them in the first round. Otherwise, I don't think Tomlin or Khan could survive a Kenny Pickett 2.0 situation.

        1) He’s all hype and name. Almost no college film yet of him. Daddy’s name helps him.

        2) Will check him out this year.

        3) As a Vols fan, this kid was a disappointment. He got worse as the season went on then trued to hold out before the playoff game. His Daddy aint helping at all.

        4) No. Although he is finally eligible he mid at best.

        5) Hearing great things about him, can’t wait to see him this year.

        6) No.. that dude got paid way too much, way too soon and he looks high all the time. Get your money while you can but he was a disappointment last year IMO at UGA.

I don't think the issue is necessarily whether it's a "good year" or not.

I think the issue is that it will be a much better year for us to move up and try to get someone.

Plus, if we end up staring a whole year with Mason (or even Rodgers) maybe we can have a losing season and not pick in the early 20s. Which also makes it easier to move up.

Edited to add: Seems like this year is a "not good year" with only one QB with a "true first round" grade. But I'm sure there will be more QBs drafted in the 1st because QBs get overdrafted all the time. And I don't know how much these grades matter anyway. Seems like no one has any real idea how to scout QBs with consistent success.

Arch Manning from Texas is the grandson of Arch Manning the QB of the Saints. His father was Peyton and Eli's older brother who injured himself as a freshman in college. He never played in the NFL.

There is no guarantee Manning declares for the draft next season. In fact, I think he plays in Texas for 2 more years.

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

I think you have 2 problems these days:
                1. Expectations aren't always met performance-wise
                2. People don't always come out, ESPECIALLY now with NIL. If you aren't a guaranteed first rounder, you'll probably make less to go pro.

He didn’t go to Texas and sit behind Ewers to play only one season, he’ll be 21 after NEXT year’s draft. Iamaleava seems like a problem child, Allar is Daniel Jones 2.0, Beck seriously regressed, haven’t seen the rest.

Also, a year from now everyone will be told to wait for The Next Big Thing, including Sayin from Ohio State.

Dizz is right — Steelers don’t have a QB of the future, it would be organizational malpractice to ignore it in the draft. Not saying to reach, but I think there are a 2-3 potential Cousins/Dak/Wilson types that can be had in rounds 3-4.

Sayin has a sweet delivery but is unproven. First college game of the year, Manning vs. Sayin in the ‘Shoe.

NIL makes it easier for these guys to stay in college. The hero worship was probably always amazing. But the money makes it even better (for QBs especially).

Still though. That NFL paycheck is pretty sweet.

If he plays very well next season, he may get to the point where he can't improve his draft stock anymore.

Either way, IMO the point of waiting till next year is that we'll have picks to bundle together to move up if we like someone. Sitting in the 20s and taking a guy no one else wants feels like a less-good strategy for QBs.

I think the only way Manning comes out next year is if they run the table and win a Natty. Then I am not even 100% sure.

I'm keeping my eye on Leavitt. Ward says he's got the 'it' factor.

It has the makings of a good one. Better than last year for sure.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***
