Rudolph isn't going to get a starting job on day 1 IMO. If he was behind Fields here, he'd have a shot to be the starter by the end of the year IMO.

But I'd completely understand if he wanted to be somewhere else.
Mason would be a fool to come back and let Lucy hold the football for him again.

I think he's a reasonably good backup / bridge guy. A Fitz magic type (but not as good)

We don't have a backup. And since we don't have a good starter we are looking for a bridge.

He had a small sample of good games here. But we haven't had too many goo's passing games in a long time

You know what, F it. Roll with Fields and a rookie backup, if they start slow Tomlin will go to a safe veteran backup to secure 9 wins. I want to see a young QB get a chance to develop or tank the ever loving fluff out of the season.

You do have a point!
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

SteelersDepot scouting reports on McCord and Dart. Two different analysts, both come up with the same comp: Gardner Minshew.

<sad trombone>

From now until the 2025 NFL Draft takes place, we hope to scout and create profiles for as many prospects as possible, examining their strengths, weaknesses, and what they can bring to an NFL franchise. These players could be potential top-10 picks, all the way down to Day 3 selections, and priority undrafted free agents. […]

Milroe draws Fields/Hurts comps, but they say he’s a 4th round talent. Odd.

I think comps are always a silly thing to do.

At least they aren't always picking HoF players anymore. Which is always the most ridiculous part of draft season IMO.

Ignore the comps, they’re all getting day 2 and 3 grades.

I like when fans use draft big boards to support their views then discredit them when they go against their views
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

NO WAY! That report is garbage. Nothing against Minshew, but he does not have his arm, release, QB smarts, or accuracy. This guy set records by passing down the field. Let him work out at the combine or pro day. He may be a 1st round pick.

Agreed, I highly doubt McCord can grow as good of a mustache as Gardner Minshew.

The prospects for Kyle McCord being selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft appear mixed. Not all can see it, then again exacly who says nay?
• Positive Outlook: Several sources highlight McCord's potential as a first-round pick. CBSSports.com notes that McCord has shown the talent and ascending skill set to potentially be a first-round selection, emphasizing his performance at Syracuse where he threw for over 330 yards in all six contests during the season analyzed. His stats, accuracy, and arm strength have been commended, with some believing he could follow in the footsteps of other notable quarterbacks selected in the first round from similar backgrounds. Some NFL scouts are quietly ranking him high on their boards, with some believing he could go as early as the second round, and others suggesting he might be a steal at that spot.
• Skeptical Views: However, there's also skepticism about McCord's draft stock. Some posts argue that McCord isn't seen as a Day 1 (first round) pick by all, with comparisons to other quarterbacks like who might be considered ahead of him in draft projections. There's also mention of him potentially being drafted in later rounds, like the third or fourth, rather than the first.

Okay....I say watch his last six games. " Air " McCord blows them away. While at Syracuse, McCord demonstrated a capability to perform against ranked opponents, which was mentioned in social media discussions as potentially elevating his draft stock. Yeah that just happened.

Given this mix of perspectives, whether Kyle McCord will be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft remains uncertain. His draft position could hinge on his performance at pre-draft events like the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine. I say he can either solidify his first-round status or see his stock potentially drop if he doesn't meet expectations.

We shall see.

Yep. Looks like a bad class.

Hope we don't feel compelled to draft a QB in the first again.

Resign Fields and then get a QB when you love someone and are willing to make a big trade up (if you aren't picking high already).

By who? Names please. I say we resign Joe Flacco for cheap for 1 year and draft a QB in round one or two.
