    Be Nostradamus (Preseason Edition)

Who is ready to put their credibility to the test? This is a contest in hopefully three parts where we can all make predictions about the upcoming Steelers season and then follow them up at the end to see who was correct in their vision. Correct predictions will then be voted on to see who is the real Nostradamus among us.

Predictions have to be measureable (ie Stefan Logan will have 3 kick return TDs in the preseason games) or an event (ie Kraig Urbik will win the starting RG position). Opinions and the like which cannot be verified in fact will be disqualified (ie The offensive line is going to suck!) Remember, the more astounding your prediction, the more likely you will win the final vote.

Feel free to edit your prediction up until the closing bell. Predictions/edits for the Preseason (1) will be closed at the beginning of the first preseason game. Predictions/edits for the Regular Season (3) will be closed at the beginning of the first regular season game. Predictions/edits for the Playoffs (1) will be closed at the beginning of the first playoff game.

For the sake of providing easy reference to everyones predictions, my interpretations of your genius will be listed below. Additional predictions are welcomed but be sure I know which one is your submission for the contest. Good luck in your effort to become the board Nostradamus!!

Discipline of Steel: 6-4-2010 - The starting OL for the first game of the regular season will be Starx, Kemo, Pouncey, Urbik, and Adams.

Shawn: Dwyer will lead the team in total rushing yards.

Hawaiian Steel: Redman will lead the team in total rushing yards and rushing TDs and make the final roster.

Flippy: Worilds will lead the team in sacks.

ramblinjim: Spaeth will lead the team in receiving yards.

Iron Shiek: Wallace will lead the team in receiving yards.

SteelerNation1: Sylvester will lead the team in tackles.

ANPSTEEL: Legursky will start at C for the first game of the regular season.

Ruthlessburgher: Burnett will have 2 INTs with one return TD.

Oveido: Burnett will have one punt or kick-off return TD.

fezziwig: McFadden will start at CB for the first game of the regular season.

Chucktownsteeler: Graeselle will make the final roster as punter and kick-off specialist.

Doogie36: Steelers will be undefeated in preseason games.

StlrzD: Dwyer will make the regular season roster and Redman will not.

ricardisimo: Dixon will be the third string QB to start the regular season.

Akronsteel: Lewis will start at CB for the first game of the regular season.

JTP53609: Roethlisberger will get engaged before the first game of the regular season.

sentinel33: Brown will lead the team in return yards and score 2 TDs. Brown will make the roster and Logan will be cut.

    Great contest.

QB starter rotation- Leftwich, Dixon, Batch

7th rounder DE Worthington makes squad and by season end is seeing PT in the rotation.

Mendenhall runs for 1500+ yards and has total 10 TDs.

We go 2-2 in our first 4 games

Maurkice Pouncey is starter at RG in our first regular season game.

Starting WR rotation Ward, Wallace, ARE slot...4th is Battle. Battle starts in place of Ward as season progresses and age catches up to him. His hammys plague him off and on all season.

Wallace has 58 catches for 980 yards and 8 TDs as our #2.

We go 10-6 and make the playoffs by a wild card. We win our wild card game and lose the next playoff game to the Colts.

Fox lights up camp and makes it impossible not to start him. Fox becomes a new Steeler fan favorite.

Edit...I think I misunderstood. If this is merely for the preseason...copy this to your regular season prediction post.

No sweat...new idea so it might take a little tweeking. This is the preseason version, with the goal to predict any outcome that can be verified at the end of the preseason. I will be opening the regular season version after the first preseason game.

In order to eliminate the potential strategy of people making 10 picks in hopes at least one comes true, the preseason is limited to ONE STROKE OF GENIUS PER PERSON. So sort through your vision of the future and choose your most astounding revelation that you think is most likely to come true, and that can be verified in facts.

FYI: I will probably edit my prediction a little further along to something more astounding but at least its out there for the sake of example.

I was thinking maybe a % of predictions with some sort of a difficulty assessment through voting. But, it's your contest...and a good one at that. I'll participate no matter what you decide on.

Nostradamus was rarely wrong so lets keep it simple with 1 per person for now. Just make sure its an extra good one. We go to 3 in the regular seaon and that should be chaos enough to verify. Someone who hits on all three will undoubtedly get extra credit in the voting.

              Fair enough.

I say Dwyer has the most amount of preseason rushing yards.

Kraig Urbik will NOT win the starting RG job.

Chris Scott will NOT make the 53 man roster and will be on the practice squad.

Byron Leftwich will be the starting QB in Game 1.

Doug Worthington will NOT make the 53 man roster and will be on the practice squad.

Willie Gay will NOT start at CB (thank God) but will be much improved as a nickelback.

Our special teams will NOT give up a kickoff or a punt return for a TD in pre-season.

                    ok, only one huh?

Isaac "Red Zone" Redman will lead all Steelers RBs in pre-season yards and TDs and will play so well in the pre-season that the Steelers will be forced to keep him on the 53-man roster in order not to lose him to another team.

                    my Nostradamus prediction...

Nice! We are already guaranteed that someone will be wrong with two different preseason rushing leaders named! HS prediction is a little more astounding in that he has to be right on two counts...yards AND touchdowns...so he would have a better chance in the final vote.

Just a note for everyone, HS final two predictions cant be confirmed with facts and would be disqualified. In order for them to be legal, they would have to be restated something like:
Willie Gay will not be a starting CB at the beginning of the regular season
                      or
Special teams will be #1 in KO return coverage at the end of the regular season.

                          - Crezdon Butler comes up with 2 INTs
                          - There will be at least one "that was the worst performance ever, we're doomed" post after a poor preseason game.
                          - Sweed tweaks his pinkey in the final pre-season game and is out for the season

                          REGULAR SEASON
                          - We go 2-2 in the 1st 4 games without Ben
                          - We go 12-4 overall and 5-1 in the division to win the AFCN
                          - Ben throws for 3247 yards; 21 Tds; 9 INTs

                          - The Steelers FO comes off looking genius as Santonio Holmes is busted for weed by Week 7 and suspended for the year -
                          - Emmanuel Sanders has 30 catches for 450 yards and 4 TDs
                          - Jason Worilds will be a starter by Week 8
                          - Harrison and Woodley combine for 27 sacks (11 JH; 16 LW)
                          - Woodley finishes top 3 in voting for DPOY
                          - Troy has 7 INTs
                          - Logan has 3 STs TDs

                          PLAYOFFS

                          - IND over BAL; NYJ over NE
                          - PIT over IND; SD over NYJ
                          - PIT over SD (and the Big Ben versus Philip Rivers is settled once and for all even the minds of the most die-hard SD homers)
                          - The Steelers beat Minnesota to win the SB 27-24 with a Hines Ward FG at the buzzer!!

Uggh. Sorry missed the pre-season part. Uh, I'll just leave the regular season and playoffs in there so when those editions roll around I can copy/paste.
