Considering that we waived Arnold Harrison in November, and he was picked up off waivers by Cleveland at that time, I think it is a pretty safe bet that Arnold Harrison will not make the final 53, since he is not currently on the beginning 91.

If Worilds and Gibson can play even a lick of special teams (i.e. neither of them has Bruce Davis Syndrome), I don't see any place for Frazier or Bailey on this final roster either.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

        Re: Be Nostradamus (Preseason Edition)

OK, Flippy, ramblinjim, and Iron Shiek are in. SteelAbility and Oviedo, sorry but we have to keep it to one (1) 'official' prediction for the preseason contest. We will go to three (3) for the regular season. Im trying to keep it kind of low so its not a headache to confirm everything and also to make the players really think about a prediction that will really WOW the voters at the end, if it comes to pass. Remember, you can edit your prediction at any time before the start of the first preseason game.

Isaac "Redzone" Redman will lead all Steelers RBs in pre-season yards and TDs.
Nice! We are already guaranteed that someone will be wrong with two different preseason rushing leaders named! HS prediction is a little more astounding in that he has to be right on two counts...yards AND touchdowns...so he would have a better chance in the final vote.

Just a note for everyone, HS final two predictions cant be confirmed with facts and would be disqualified. In order for them to be legal, they would have to be restated something like:
Willie Gay will not be a starting CB at the beginning of the regular season
          or
Special teams will be #1 in KO return coverage at the end of the regular season.

ok, i edited my post to be more specific...

Willie Gay will NOT start at CB (thank God) but will be much improved as a nickelback.

Our special teams will NOT give up a kickoff or a punt return for a TD in pre-season.

I predict the Steelers training camp will be held in Latrobe, PA (at St. Vincent's College).

                Re: Be Nostradamus (Preseason Edition)

SteelerNation1 is in with another 'fringe' player selection. From my perspective, Sylvester has as much veteran competition as any rookie on the team, so maybe we will be seeing a lot of him. (Spaeth? Perhaps its do or die for him...also Interesting...) Ruthless...Im sorry but your prediction will be confirmed prior to the final bell. Back to the drawing board, but i like your 'out of the box' thinking.

I realize this thread was a bit premature but the three months will pass in a flash. I plan on losing one to the World Cup. It may be interesting to see how the trends shift as we get closer to the submission deadline.

                    Re: Be Nostradamus (Preseason Edition)

I have an idea I'd like to pose for this thread-

since all picks are not equal- such as Pouncey will make the team, is much easier to predict than say- Worthington will make the team.

                    How about categories of picks?

                    a. unheralded rookie to make the team (5th round or lower- including udfa)
                    b. vet -with 3 years or more in the league- to be cut (or benched??)
                    c. Breakout player (Rookie, PS or role player last season) makes an impact in camp
                    d. QB that starts the season

                    or some such categories -

In respect to my initial 1 pre-season pick:

Legursky starts at C, coming out of camp.

Good thing I started this thread early, it will allow some time to work out the kinks...

I do like your idea, its kind of seems like there is not enough room for people to voice all of their predictions. For instance, SteelAbility had a tremendous set of predictions that were all verifiable. However, there are three reasons I would throw in that makes me want to keep it at one for the contest:
-The more total picks, the more confirmation required and overall confusion. If 30 people play, Im swamped.
-It would be more difficult to crown one true Nostradamus among us with various categories.
-More initial predictions dilutes the impact of a correct one. We dont want anyone to offer several predictions and hit on one good one to win it, do we?

You are also correct in that some predictions are easier to make than others. That is where the voting comes in. Referencing your prediction, Legursky at C is more likely to win the voting than a prediction of Leftwich at QB. But it could happen so I would say that is a great pick. Survival of the fittest. I want Nostradamus to have earned it. Bigger bragging rights at the end.

But in keeping with your suggestion of categories, I can see dropping a few picks into the thread that could be unofficially confirmed by our peers. As long as everyone signs their name to one pick and one pick only, whatever else goes on here just adds to the culture. I still want to make a prediction on Urbik, but I dont think I want it to be my 'signature pick' for the contest.

Okay, my bold prediction for the preseason...after a year in which no Steeler CB had a single interception during the entire regular season until week 17 in Miami, I predict that second year CB Joe Burnett will have 2 interceptions during the preseason, and will return one of them for a TD.

Good call...there are two parts (both of which have to come true) which would make it more likely to win the vote should it come true.

IMO Burnett will challenge Gay for the nickle position.
