Former Steelers quarterback Dennis Dixon is meeting with the Broncos. Dixon would be brought in to fight for the number two QB job with Caleb Hanie. The Broncos are looking for a solid back up to put behind Peyton Manning. Dixon has been looking for a chance to start but it does not look like the market is heading that direction. Taking a job behind Manning could be a bet by Dixon that Manning will not last the season. That would give him a chance to start.
If Dixon is signed by the Broncos he would be the third free agent to leave the Steelers this offseason. William Gay has signed with the Arizona Cardinals. Jamon Meredith has signed with the Tampa Bay Bucs. The Steelers also have Jerricho Cotchery who has been shown interest by the Jets and Chiefs. The Steelers have yet to sign a free agent. Not even one of their own.
