Steelers Set to Take Over First Place if Chargers can Handle Ravens at Home on Sunday Night Football

An interesting day, to say the least, in the National Football League. I’ll share my thoughts on the Week 15 action after the completion of the day’s final game, a huge AFC clash between the San Diego Chargers and Baltimore Ravens. I love the Chargers tonight. Let me get that one on the record before kickoff here in 15 minutes or so. With the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos both losing, the Chargers could find themselves just one game behind Denver for first place in the AFC West. Would it really be all that wacky to see the Chargers come back and win the division given all the crazy things that we’ve seen through the first 15 weeks of the 2011 season? Not really.

Let’s use this thread to comment on the day’s action, and as an open thread for tonight’s pivotal game between San Diego and Baltimore. With a Chargers win, the Steelers would be in first place in the AFC North for at least 24 hours or so before taking on San Francisco Monday night. Were the Ravens to lose, perhaps the Steelers decide to sit Ben Roethlisberger tomorrow night. Who knows though, maybe Big Ben would play if there’s an opening to control their own destiny for a first round bye and potential top overall seed in the conference.

Go Chargers!
