The Seattle Seahawks traded tight end Nick Vannett to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday for a 2020 fifth-round draft pick. The Steelers have been in desperate need of another TE especially with 2nd string TE, Xavier Grimble being placed on IR.
In addition to Grimble’s injury, Steelers starting tight end Vance McDonald hurt his shoulder early in Sunday’s loss in San Francisco, and he was wearing a sling Tuesday. Per sources, McDonald’s injury is not expected to be serious.
Vannett will be a welcomed addition to the Steelers. After losing Jesse James to the Detroit Lions in the offseason, the Steelers have been on the lookout for another TE. Xavier Grimble was non-factor before getting hurt.
This is the second major trade the Steelers have pursued in a little over a week. Last week, the Steelers shocked the NFL by trading their 2020 1st round pick for Safety, Mikah Fitzpatrick.
