The Steelers selected Sean Spence in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Spence was a guy who the Steelers worked out at his pro day. Spence is 5’11 and 230 lbs. The Steelers will most likely look at Spence as an inside linebacker in their system.
He is very athletic and will make tackles from sideline to sideline. He also is a very instinctive player. He can be a three down linebacker because of how good his cover skills are. This kid can drop in coverage and play the ball very well.
Spence may have to bulk up a little bit to make the transition to ILB. Spence did not show good strength at the combine. He can get caught up in traffic. His run support will have to improve but with today’s NFL he could succeed in the position.
Not a bad end to day 2. The Steelers still have 7 picks tomorrow. It will be a long day full of new guys to improve the team.
