PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and center Maurkice Pouncey were among the injured players at practice Thursday, making the likelihood of either starting Saturday against St. Louis more in doubt.
Roethlisberger sat out of practice for the majority of last week with a high-ankle sprain, participating only near the end of the week in limited situations. He ended up starting and playing every down of Pittsburgh’s 20-3 loss at San Francisco Monday night.
There are many reports circulating that Roethlisberger will sit out this weekend and possibly the rest of the regular season in order to get healthy for the playoffs. Pittsburgh has the Rams (2-12) and Cleveland (4-10) in its final two games.
Pouncey did not play last week and it’s expected he’ll sit out as well to be fully healthy for the post-season. He was a limited participant in practice along with wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders.
Cornerback Curtis Brown (knee), linebacker Lamarr Woodley (hamstring) and running back Mewelde Moore (knee) were also held out of practice.
