Per a league source, the Pittsburgh Steelers are working out former New England Patriots outside linebacker/defensive end Markell Carter.
Carter, a second year OL/DE out of Central Arkansas, didn’t quite pan out in New England it seems. He spent all of last season on the practice squad and was released by the Patriots earlier this month.
He was the highest-paid player on the practice squad, receiving a number of practice player of the week honors, which meant that New England thought he had a lot of potential. Hard to tell why the Patriots released him, but he does have some raw talent that could be developed in Pittsburgh.
