Pittsburgh Steelers interested in re-signing QB Byron Leftwich

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in need of and experienced backup quarterback and it appears they might reach into their past in order to fill the position. With Troy Smith and Jerrod Johnson currently on the roster behind Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers have interest in bringing back Byron Leftwich.
As they deal with some salary cap issues, the Steelers, according to pittsburghlive.com are interested in re-signing some former players to new contracts. The paper reports that the Steelers are interested in Byron Leftwich and Charlie Batch as possible candidates to return in 2012. Neither player are candidates to land a spot on another team’s roster for 2012. Both players are both familiar with the Steelers offense and will likely come with a salary cap friendly number moving forward.
