. . . entitled "beating a dead horse"
Sorry, but had to vent
Was listening to ESPN radio, and apparently Trent Dilfer came out qwith his quarterback rankings. He grouped them together into "classes". I didn't have my cell phone with me to call in, or the stats in front of me, so I am gettng my therapy here. I get tired of these talking heads spouting off with little to no knowlege and a total disreguard of facts. Anyway, here are the classes.
Elite
Tom Brady and Peyton Manning
Superstar
Drew Brees and Phillip Rivers
on the come
Ben and some others
Like many, I didn't have a problem with the first two, and really don't have a problem with Brees over Ben, although a very strong case could be made for ben in this reguard, but on to my beef . . .
this is ongoing beef, but in the discussion afterwards from the host of the show, when they mention Ben's 2 super bowls, they always immediate question his first one, saying how badly he performed in the first one. NO ONE EVER mentions the three games leading up to the Super bowl that year, when it can be argued Ben carried the offensive load on his back. Even including his awful super bowl stats into my argument, and they naturally bring it down signifigantly, he had a 62 percent completion percentage, averaged 200 yards passing in those games (which is remarkable since he barely threw a pass in the second half against Indy) and had a combined quarterback rating of 101.7 . In that year which people don't want to give him credit for winning s super bowl, he outperformed guess who in pretty much every one of his playoff performances . . . Peyton Manning. Call me a homer all you want, but just about everyone comes up for excuses as to why Ben isn't among the elite quarterbacks in the game, and I am starting to get sick of all of them.
