Re: Logan Better Make the Team

Colbert needs to parlay some of these guys who aren't going to make the roster into future picks if at all possible.

I remember back in the mid-90's how Donahoe had a knack for trading late roster cuts into future low-round picks. Every year they'd have someone who performed well but was a numbers victim (as an example, Ernie Mills and Ray Seals come to mind, but I might be remembering the specific players incorrectly -- age will do that to you) but because they were a Super Bowl caliber team, their castoffs were still better than the guys on several other teams.

If they decide to cut someone like Summers, Ratliff, Redman, it would be nice to get a pick. I realize it is hard to do when the rest of the league knows that they will be waiver wire fodder within a few days, but if Colbert could identify a team with a real need in that area (i.e. the Bills really need more pass rushers --- if Donovan Woods or Bruce Davis can't crack our LB corps lineup, those two guys are still better than half the LB on the Bills right now), they might bite on a player for a 6th or 7th rounder --- that can be used to move up from the final pick in each round next year.

yep... and you know Arizona and Green Bay are gonna grab at least a couple guys off of the Steelers waivers.

Arizona has Pittsburgh's waiver wire as a screen saver.

Gotta hold on to Logan. If we keep him, and he could stay healthy for the entire year, he will DEFINATELY have a minimum of 3 or 4 to the house I would guess. Dude could definately be a game changer.

I'm watching the game right now. Logan is magic. This kid needs a spot on our team.

Wallace was the first KO returner and Moore was the first PR.

I'm not so sure Logan is a lock.

Although I want him to be a lock.

And I think Moore can be his perfect mentor and we can eventually groom Logan to be the 3rd down back.

Re: Logan Better Make the Team

Let's put it this way: if they don't find room for him on the roster, someone in the front office needs to have their head examined. He's one missed tackle away from taking it to the house every
time he touches it, he's got shifty-ness and a great burst.

Remember, this is the same team that kept Allan Rossum all year as a return specialist well
after his prime in that role. Sure they have a better team now, but this I'd take a
chance on someone with potential like this kid and let a slug like Carrie Davis walk any day of the week.

While he is officially classified as a RB, if he is ever used on offense it will likely be catching passes out of the backfield or even lining up in the slot moreso than actually running the ball (like how the Chargers use Darren Sproles, the Jets use Leon Washington, the Saints use Reggie Bush, etc.). And like each of those guys, his best attribute is his ability to make things happen in the open field in the return game. A potential game breaker like that is worthy of a roster spot (since we haven't had one since Washington signed Randle El).
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Sweet ! Just the threat to the defense to see him on the field. Do a few screens with him a season, have the defenses alert to him as it will be another screen and pow, toss the ball down field or to Miller or something as a surprise. A guy like him is always nice to have around.

I have to hand it to Tomlin, he doesn't beat a dead horse like Cowher did. Tomlin brings in a kick returner, it doesn't work out and he's gone. Tomlin obviously isn't happy with our return game, he uses Santonio. Can't alway put Santonio out there so, lets look for a guy that can get the job done. I'm telling you, Tomlin is hungry and wants to make this special team truly special. Oh yeah, went for the punter too.

Well I think we can put this thread to rest now. When you take a low line drive and make 7 people miss on the way to the endzone, you've got the team made. What a steal this guy could turn out to be!!!
