Re: Ben Roethlisberger has to deal with the price of fame

Ben may well be a real butthead, but on Saturday I saw him go out of his way to make a special day even better for one young boy. Long after training camp practice, while trying to get a photo of Ben signing autographs, I heard a man yell at Ben, "Ben, today is my boy's birthday!" Ben reached out and gave the boy his autograph and then paused, reached down and took off one of his cleats. He autographed it and handed it to the the boy. I thought that said a lot about Ben. Also, the fact that the only two players remaining on the field were Ben and Hines. They both really went out of their way to sign autographs, long after everyone else had left the field.

What an a-hole Mark Baranowski is? I don't know how much is the cover charge for that $hitty place but i can't believe that miser owner is crying for what 40 bucks cover? Does he know how to run the business?

I don't see anything wrong with Big Ben attitude here. He is a star and he should be given a free pass if he frequents that place. The amount of money he spends in the bar, the amount of crowd he attracts should be good for business. Does Cabana Bar have clientele which would spend more money than any Steelers players?

I don't think any Hollywood star pay cover charges then why should Big Ben do that. I hope Big Ben stops going to that Cabana Bar. I think its a case of sour grapes.

I've never crossed paths with Tommy Lee, but I did say that about Sean Salisbury once.

cover is $5 there, which kinda makes it all the dumber on Ben's part that he wouldn't just pay it and move along to enjoy his night

I know Ben is paid millions but it's not about the money... it's the principality...if a SB QB in a town with damn near no other entertainment.. (to have locals tell it) it's stupid to make Ben pay the cover.. put the story in the news and say you hate to cheer for the guy...

As stupid as it may seem on Ben's part.. who wins in this situation? Walking into a bar without paying the cover IS part of Ben's night.. it's about the money he generates with wins and with his presence. I know it sounds crazy but it's like charging a playboy model a cover to come dance at your strip club....

I know Ben is thinking.."What the hell does a QB have to do to get in free to a bar around here?" LOL!!!

The owner definitely has the right... but is $5 dollars worth losing $5000K of drink revenue and return business based on the assumption Ben will be there next week?

I wish I owned the bar next door... I would have paid Ben $100 to sit in my bar LOL!!!

Few Club owners even pay stars to make an apperance in their club. If Big Ben was in NYC and he had won 2 SB for Giants i am pretty sure he would never have to pay cover charges in any Manhattan Club including LQ... for lifetime.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.
