Don' get me wrong, I agree that there is a reason he hasn't been extended. But it's not like he's been a disaster back there either. Fred Taylor is not the answer.

Do we have to travel down this road again? If you can honestly sit there and say to yourself FWP has a 4.3 Y/A over his career and 3.8 last year you obviously aren't watching the games.

He is all or nothing man. How many times does this guy do nothing for a half then explode a run for 25 to 30 yards which then balloons his avearge? Why don't you take away his longest run in each game last year and figure out his yard per carry after that? I am willing to guess it's 3 yards or less.
Umm those averages are facts and not opinions derived from watching the game. You said he struggles to get three yards per carry. But I guess what you were really stating is taht in your opinion he is too hit or miss or whatever.

I can't be arsed to go back and subtract out his best runs to see what his average is from there. It's your point, so if you want somebody to believe you then you prove it. Also, I'm not sure i see the value in it unless you do it for every guy in the league. I mean, if you take out his longest runs before you compute his average but leave everybody else as is, of course he is going to look like crap.
In response to his pleas, an officer said: "You think we've never arrested somebody that's made national media? ... We deal with the Bengals all the time."

Willie Parker is a one-trick pony. His negative yards put Steelers in 3rd and long more often than not. Willie can't punch the ball in. If your primary ball carrier can't score TDs well its a huge problem. He has not hit a home run in a long time. He has lost his only weapon..SPEED.

Since this is a contract year for Willie i expect a better performance from him.

Willie Parker has reached his shelf life and Steelers FO, Coach Tomlin agree with me.

Thanks Willie for your effort in Black and Gold but time for Steelers to move on better things (Mendy and Moore)

I just don't understand how fans blast the OL then blast FWP when his production has been damn good. FWP is like Big Ben IMO... Ben takes a lot of sacks and looks for the big play.. and he produces..

FWP misses the whole or looks outside too much but he produces...

When you have to take away the long runs to get an average that suits your argument it really says something... it says the guy is capable of long runs.. LOL!!!
I'm just trying to say that you sometimes have to look past the numbers. We all have seen FWP do nothing for quarters then bust off a meaningless run to pad his stats. The same holds true for teams like the Patriots that are always in the Top 10 in defense. Is the defense that good or is it the offense which is padding the defensive stats because they force teams to play catch up and make the other teams offense one dimensional?

Remember when Tomlin was in Minnesota and the team ranked number 1 against the run and something like 25 against the pass? Why would teams run when they know they can pass with ease. So once again a situation where you look past the number for what is truly there.
First off you make it seem like FWP is calling the plays and pads his stats on purpose...
how many blowout games did we win last year? There is no such thing as padding your stats when most of our games are won in the last quarter... it's called helping your team.

When we played Arizona the first time Whiz said his #1 priority was stopping FWP.

Say what you want about the hit or miss but that is what makes FWP special.. I also remember in 2006 when no one was producing and FWP was going all out grinding for tough yards while the team was still celebrating the SB...

it's not the 50's where you rely on 1 RB to do all the work.. this is why i think FWP will get a humble extension unless Mend is the next Barry Sanders...

I think one thing is clear, he was much better when he was the change of pace guy. If Mendy and Moore can carry some of the load this year for the tough yards, he might actually have a good year doing less regular work. But he is not an every down guy and I agree that the Steelers would be wise to move on.

FWP can't punch the ball in because he wasn't the short yardage back.. all of them were horrible because the OL and play calling was horrible at the GL.

FWP is fine as long as he has blocking.. but look around the league.. anyone who isn't getting good run blocking isn't getting the tough yards...

I doubt the Steelers agree with you or he would be gone already... they are being smart and trying to devalue his situation while locking up younger players... it's the Steeler way..

I agree he is not an every down guy but Mend's shoulder kinda messed things up last year don't you think?

The Steelers would be fools to move on seeing how quick RB's went down last year..

Re: Willie Parker quick on his feet handling the media, too

People tend to forget that in 2006, when Parker had a much better o-line than we have now (Smith-Faneca-Hartings-Simmons-Starks) and a much better O.C. calling plays (Whisenhunt instead of Arians), he scored 16 TD's (13 rushing, 3 receiving) to go with his nearly 1500 rush yards and over 200 receiving yards. He didn't have much problem punching it in with competent goal line playcalling and quality blockers to execute those plays.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

funny how a thread dies when the facts come out.

It's no different the Nate Washington detractors.. sure he wasn't worth what TN paid for him but so many people blasted his production as a #3 WR... yet he was top 3 among #3's in production..

Why should OC and O-line take all the blame for negative yards Willie? Big Ben has improved behind that same horrible O-line.Are Starks-Kemo-Hartwig-Darnell-Colon better in pass protection? I don't think so.

Willie has lost speed over the years, maybe because of injuries.Willie can't block, catch and run between the tackles. With Mendy and Moore in backfield Steelers O will be far better this coming season.

Steelers FO ain't gonna extend often injured Willie Parker unless Mendy is a big bust or Willie is willing to take a pay cut.

Yea. What's the big idea introducing facts that prove how wrong people are with their prejudicial positions against certain players? You take all the fun out of reading how wrong people are.

13 rushing.. 3 receiving in 2006 and ummm... those stats are amazing for a scrub like FWP dude...

when he signed his contract he was definitely a top 10 RB.. look at the numbers though.. I think you can also attribute his drop off to injury and Arians new O...

18 rec, 31 rec, 23 rec, and then 3 rec? we stopped running screens due to the OL's lack of setting it up properly and let FWP's favorite FB go...

I'm just putting it all out there.. I don't see how you put up those stats and then say FWP is done.. LOL!!! Those stats say wait and see since he missed so many games due to injury last year..

how do you throw out stats that show a RB averages 1200 over 4 years with 5 games missed last year and say he is done? LOL!!!

teams pay top dollar for 1200 yards a season.. and throw out the Ravens games because no one runs on the Ravens..

Steelers FO ain't gonna extend often injured Willie Parker unless Mendy is a big bust or Willie is willing to take a pay cut.
what proof do you have Mend can run up the middle without getting injured? Mends biggest problem was not staying low..

I know FWP is slowing down and wearing down but dude... until we see it on the field I don't buy the bull you are shoveling

He has one 13 TD season. His salary is among Top 10 RB in NFL. Willie's production is not worth that money.

He is a change of pace RB. He can run wild when Defense is tired. He can't carry the load on his own. Maybe Steelers can extend him for a backup RB money...
Beware! The spoil-sport facts police are back to spoil the fun! Last year, Willie's cap hit ranked 15th among NFL RB's, not top 10. Plus, this off-season, guys like Maurice Jones-Drew, Brandon Jacobs, and Derrick Ward signed significant contracts, plus Darren Sproles is making an average of the top 5 RB's since he got the franchise tag.
