Love Tomlin but If Ben goes down for the season then you can take the Steelers off the list of teams who have a shot at winning the Super Bowl. All of Tomlin's smarts and motivation are not magical QB dust he can sprinkle on Batch or Dixon.

      Re: Tomlin versus Ben

In the short term the Steelers obviously need Ben more so than Tomlin to be successful; however, in the long term I'd take Mike Tomlin's steady hand, intensity and attitude of winning regardless of the style points.

If I had to take one over the other right now I'd take Ben, simply because Tomlin hasn't been the coach long enough and Ben, potentially, has another 7-8 years of prime time football left in him. In another 2-3 years I'd probably take Tomlin to steer the ship into the future.

      Right now - Ben Roethlisberger
After next year - Mike Tomlin

      The 2025 Pittsburgh Steeler draft

      1.21 - Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon - Nick Emmanwori, S, S. Carolina
3.83 - Kaleb Johnson, RB, Iowa - DJ Giddens, RB, Kans St
3.123 - Will Howard, QB, OSU
4.156 - JJ Pegues, DT, Ole Miss
5.185 - Clay Webb, OG, Jack St
      7.229 - Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, DT, Georgia

but tomlin makes me believe backups will perform like starters after last season....

How bout this as a question, Could Tomlin have won a SuperBowl with a Cowher team minus Ben?

Could Tomlin have gotten us a ring with Kordell, ODonnel, etc?

Just cause Cowher couldn't do it with a lesser QB, doesn't mean Tomlin couldn't either.

And what if Dixon is just a stud QB?

You need great players to win a title. The Steelers were not winning a title with Kordell. At some point your QB has to make plays in the pocket in order to win a championship. Kordell couldn't do it consistently. Notice how none of the prior Steeler QB went on to have success elsewhere.
The Steelers’ went through seven consecutive drafts (2003-09) without taking an offensive lineman in the first two rounds, the longest such streak by any franchise this century.

Why are we deciding between Tomlin & Ben?

Has Chadman missed something? Is there a rift?

The only rift is our minds and we need some Steeler football. We're bored and trying to dredge up anything to talk about.

With that in mind...How's the Missus and the Chad baby doing?

Chadwoman is going great- feeling good & all. Chadbaby....wow- what giant lungs he has! Now- Chadman was expecting the crying, that was obvious. Nobody, however, warned Chadman that Chadbaby will also be a world class burper & farter. That kid is just letting loose at the worst times...like when he's handed to great grandmothers etc.Still, he's a tank in waiting & a definate future Steeler.

Here is some mandatory bedtime story reading for you the little fella:

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Tomlin isn't going to make the mistake that Josh McDaniels made...

He knows that you keep a franchise QB when you have him...
