Re: NFL Free Agent Signing Thread

It is now confirmed by NFL Radio that Leonhard has in fact signed with the Jets...3 year deal. They've got a pretty decent defense. Kris Jenkins on the line, Gholston (if he starts playin like a top pick), David Harris, Bart Scott then Revis/Sheppard/Leonhard/Rhodes is a solid DB group. Add in Rex Ryan and the Jets may try to be the Dilfer Ravens...right down to the crap quarterback leading the team.

Contract is rumored to be 2 years $7 Mil. I wouldn't be surprised if we signed Coles soon as well...

Robert Guillaume is in his 80's, making him pretty old to be playing football.

Oh, you meant Cedric Benson. My bad.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Yup...81. "Soap" was on TV around the time of the first Steeler dynasty of the late 70's, and he was in his early 50's back then.

That likely put the kibosh on the "Chargers offering Cromartie in trades" rumors.

ESPNews reports the Arizona Cardinals have re-signed QB Kurt Warner to a two-year deal worth $23 million.

Do they now put their attention on Bmac?

Bidwell has a reputation for cheapness that is even worse than the Rooney's undeserved reputation for cheapness. Will the bow-tied one be willing to cough up another big contract after giving all those millions to Warner?

It's amazing that the Steelers can be perceived as "cheap" since they are always pushed up against the cap. They just don't give out stupid contracts like other teams do.

That said, is BMac worth 7mil a year? What is Ike's contract?

Ike's deal is five years for $22.5 million with a $6.4 million signing bonus. However, that was signed in 2006. A lot has changed since then.

I know that Denver lost a half dozen or more RB's to injury last season, but is it really necessary to sign Correll Buckhalter, J.J. Arrington, AND LaMont Jordan??? There is something called overkill, fellas.

J.J. Arrington fell through at some point last I heard. he should still be a free agent...

                              CBSSportsline.com:

J.J. Arrington back on the market: The Arizona Republic is among the media outlets reporting that the deal between the Broncos and RB J.J. Arrington has fallen apart, and the two sides have not agreed to anything. Arrington is still considered a free agent.
                              (Updated 03/03/2009).

Schefter reporting Bengals sign Laverneus Coles. 4 yr 28 million

                              Saints re-sign Devery Henderson

And Schefter in a matter of a week manages to contradict himself and now says expect the Ravens to sign Ray Lewis very soon to around a 3 yr $24 mil deal when last week he was fervent in saying Ray would never return to Bmore. Oh well...things change.

But their own paper says he hasn't agreed to anything yet.
