The one thing Tomlin deserves criticism over is the non-challenge. He must be the worst at that in the league. He either challenges plays that shouldn't be. Or stands there staring into the abyss on a play that absolutely should be challenged. Why can't we improve here?
Agreed 100%. It's maddening how bad Tomlin is with challenges - which is a career-long trend, not just a preseason gaffe. I thought they had an assistant coach and setup specifically designed to assist him on game days? If so, they need a new assistant and system.

Other than that specific issue, I find this thread to be predictably absurd. I did wonder why Jones was in a RT late in the 3rd quarter (I believe Cooks was at LT), but I'm not going to be critical of personnel rotations in the first preseason game from my couch.

As for this thread being ongoing for the rest of the season...why? There will be at least 1,000 more just like it from a group of five or six posters.

Challenging during a preseason game? lmao.

Its not that serious. The real problem is lack of execution and the OL struggling. Gotta clean that up quickly

Not serious at all. Agree. But... shouldn't coaches be sharpening their skills too? Didn't we bring in a guy to actually help with this known Tomlin deficiency?

This thread will be an ongoing thread for the rest of the season to point out the follies of the worst coach in the NFL. Feel free to add to it.
Obviously it wasn't our best effort. Our effort was too JV. We need to be significantly better. Yada yada yada. Then he reads off his notebook and blinks a ton as if he is on something.

Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

Right. It’s much better not to challenge clear catches. I am sure all this stuff will be worked out perfectly when the games count.

And while the Tomlin criticism is often absurd, the post crediting him with 11 playoff runs neglected to mention that 7 of those so-called runs were actually one and dones.

Maybe he wanted to see what his punter could do to down inside the 20 on a short kick?
There is a lot more going on than trying to win a football game in preseason.

                  Preseason Game #2 versus Bills.

-Tomlin's team comes out unprepared for the 2nd week in a row with no intensity. Apparently fighting with teammates and throwing them to the ground in practice is more important then playing an opponent.

-Austin with a false start but Tomlin keeps playing him despite his mental mistake.

-Apparently Tomlin wants Jones to be a slow OT so he can keep getting beat by outside rushers

-Tomlin puts Jones on the right side even though he should be at LT. He's a 1st round pick and not a scrub like Moore. Make this make sense.

                  - If Moore can't play RT cut him!

-Tomlin would have won his challenge last week. Instead he challenges a play that had no chance to be reversed.

-Why does our genius coach not allow our QBs to throw past the sticks on 4th down? Same bs offense year after year.

WORST COACH IN THE LEAGUE. FIRE HIM!

Sounds like a 3 year new deal to me, says Art Rooney II.

And the last two were due to playoff expansion to 7 teams
