Welcome Back to Mike Tomlin Football

-thuggery fights with teammates in practice - sloppy, unprepared and no energy football against Texans

-Tomlin makes Herbig the #1 center but he's not a center - The result was 2 fumbles while a real center with more upside Frazier rides the bench

-perfect catch by Jefferson but Tomlin doesn't challenge the play

-Fautanu gets wasted reps at LT in camp - Tomlin THEN plays Troy at RT in preseason and gives up a sack - still has Moore listed as #1 LT.

This thread will be an ongoing thread for the rest of the season to point out the follies of the worst coach in the NFL. Feel free to add to it.

I'm still trying to figure out why he has a QB returning kicks

Biggest issue right now is the OL is playing all over the place. Pick your five and let them gel. This is ridiculous. Jones was playing late in the first half with backups at RIGHT TACKLE. They traded up in the first round for him last year.

Absolutely. Why not give the kid a chance to play QB? It's not as though Plumlee will make the team as a returner.

I agree with you there. I don't understand the logic of MT. He's done this same sh** season after season and it never works out. You need consistency on the OL more then anything.

Tomlin shades look to be in mid - season form.

Frazier showed a soild push in his play.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

Yes, it's too early to complain about a lot of things. But there was a lot of sloppy ball out there, which was probably to be expected.

The one thing Tomlin deserves criticism over is the non-challenge. He must be the worst at that in the league. He either challenges plays that shouldn't be. Or stands there staring into the abyss on a play that absolutely should be challenged. Why can't we improve here?

I wouldn't read too much into the challenge, he could of been satisfied with his starters reps at that point, he might of wanted to see a 3rd and long situation, he might of made a decision beforehand that he wasn't going to do any challenges. It's not like they were going for the win.

This is a Rooney issue. Same thing with time management, which has been a perennial embarrassment under Tomlin. For whatever reason, Rooney would prefer not to address it and so it remains unaddressed.

These are not insignificant issues. This sort of issue often gets lost in the shuffle over the course of the year, but can in fact cost games. But it will always be overshadowed by a dropped pass, fumble or interception. That said, it is only a matter of time before this issue directly contributes to a major loss (like a season ending playoff loss).

Sorry to be a downer, but that is how I see it.

I wouldn't give it a second thought if it weren't a pattern of behavior over many years. I doubt he was thinking, "I'd like to see a 3rd and long situation". And I can't fathom that he was satisfied with his starter's reps at that point. I think he'd rather see his new QB and new offense actually have a scoring drive. Something to get excited about.

I didn't see much to be excited about over Fields. It's only one pre-season game. But it left me wishing Wilson was healthy to have a look at him.

Maybe because Plumlee broke a rushing record in college as a QB, has some quicks, and also played as a centerfielder (just maybe the guy can track a high-flying ball better than other options they had?).....
