I'll go around 5-7mil per year for Mason, not sure if it's with Steelers or elsewhere, I'm guessing elsewhere though. He only played 3 games this year plus playoff game so I find it hard to believe he'll get a big contract based on that but the NFL does have a QB problem which Mason could take advantage of.
Mason Ruloplh stats in his last 4 QB starts, extapoled for a 16 game season.

I'll take the easy win with the under on Joel's $20 mill/year prediction, in fact I highly doubt Mason sees anything north of $10 mill/year.
here's what Steelers Depot thinks:
https://steelersdepot.com/2024/01/20...mason-rudolph/
signing a guy like Rudolph to big "ish" money deals is how you get Scott Mitchell , Kevin Kolb and Matt Flynn kind of bad contracts .... the most I would offer is a clone of Mitchs contract@dwinsgames on twitter .... Kenny Pickett is who I thought he was ....Comment

Why use these contacts Mitchell contact? Or Kolb's ? They were all a greater % of their teams salary cap. Check as a they say you do the math. And Rudolph was better than they were for his last 4 games coming into free agency. Much better.
20 million a year now is about 7.3% of the Steelers 272.4 million dollar cap space. Not nearly as much money as a franchise QB makes on is 2nd or 3rd deal.
I think we can win a playoff game with Rudolph. He is 8-4-1 in his QB starts. His play is catching up to his experience level.Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.
Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

I'd put Rudolph around 2 years, $7M per, with incentives that can move him up to around $10M. Anything more is a guy who is brought in as a starter - not someone to compete to start, but a starter. Rudolph's best situation IMO is to come back given an open competition. Likely against Pickett, a rook late rounder or UDFA, and either a cheap vet or UDFA.Comment

I don't see Mason as a play-action rollout guy.

Are you crazy? You think Peyton is going to part ways with Wilson, eat all of that money, and then turn around and pay Mason Rudolph 25 million a year, that is insane. If Peyton is moving on from Wilson then he has had someone in mind before Mason even got on the field. Nobody is giving Rudolph a starting job and 20+ million a year, it just ain't happening, I don't care If you extrapolate his stats from here to infinity.Comment

I was wrong on this too.
I thought he'd get multiple years and a higher base salary (I'm assuming his base is going to be like $2M, but it could be as low as $1).
And since pretty much any incentive he'd have in the contract would be unlikely to be earned, I thought teams might "sweeten" the deal a but putting in some high value stuff about high percentage of snaps or deep playoffs runs. Money that he wasn't likely to get, but would make him feel better about signing.
Never bought into the $20M/year hype that some reporters were talking about while he was playing. But I thought he'd have some unlikely incentives that could get up up near what we signed Mitch for.Comment

I didn't think he'd get much in free agency after only 3 games of just decent play. He didn't really do anything that he hadn't done before with the Steelers. The only reason it looked somewhat special to a lot of Steelers fans is because of how atrocious Mitch played and how bad our offense - in general - looked under Matt Canada.Comment

lol no kidding. Only Joel would take 4 games and make a claim like that. Why don?t we extrapolate his entire career? First MR did show growth. But he was also playing for a contract and a shot. He played like a man with nothing to lose.Trolls are people too.Comment
