    You know this is true.

When Mitch came in he was chucking deep picks.
When Kenny first got the job he was chucking deep picks.
Kenny stopped throwing deep and stopped turning it over and won.
Mitch would sub and threw deep picks
2023 game one Kenny was let loose and AGAIN threw deep picks.
Kenny got conservative and we win.
Kenny comes back post Canada and throws deep clean.
Kenny gets hurt and AGAIN Mitch throws deep picks.

MASON THROWS DEEP WITH THE MOST SUCCESS SINCE BEFORE INJURED BEN.

HE gets to finish the season for his play.

YOU INSANE TAKE THAT TOMLIN WANTS low scoring safe offense is DESTROYED by the facts my brother.
    This:

2019: Ben plays basically 1 game. Then early Mason and Duck and Mason again.
2020: Things go well until the league realizes that Ben can't connect on deep passes. Load up the box and we can't make them pay. Team goes to **** after 11 game win streak. Has the most lopsided 1st half in playoff history. Comedy of errors on offense. Including 4 ints,
2021: Ben is a shell of his former self. Can still make quick throws based on pre-snap reads. But lost his super power of extending the play. Has nice end in the regular season and we'll likely mostly forget that the offense was around in that playoff game. But much better than if his last game was the debacle against the Browns.
2022: Mitch starts. Is bad. Kenny comes in. Moves the ball but can't score often. Very little splash plays. Has some flashes.
2023: Kenny starts. Has splash plays, but can't move the ball consistently. Gets hurt. Mitch is bad. Mason looks pretty good in limited number of games.

The "still had a hall of fame QB" argument doesn't hold much water here. When Ben was playing in this stretch, he was nowhere near hall of fame level play. And 2/5ths of the games played in Windy's timeline have mostly looked like replacement level guys (some of this is certainly on the scheme).

Just by the clip of Tomlin telling Sullivan to go for it with Mason at the end of the game.

Suggests that we were conservative is similar situations because we didn't trust the QB...at least not as much as we trusted Mason and GP in that moment.

He said he's part of the process and not worried. He kept him for 2.5 years before Rooney stepped in. The QB who didn't turn it over and averaged 16 PPG was reinstalled as the 2024 starter.

You guys are in denial. The facts are as plain as the nose on your face.

And yet he's already installed the low-risk, low-reward QB as his starter for 2024.

          Interesting.

            OR

He wanted to get rid of him earlier, but company policy going back generations of ownership is to not fire coordinators in-season. And Rooney finally was convinced by Tomlin.

You see how it's easy to make up a story about things we don't know the answer to?

He said Kenny would be QB1 and that there would be competition for the spot (that's the part you always selectively edit out)

              This statement:
              (1) makes sense because Kenny is the only QB we know we will have on contract since Mason is UFA and we all expect Mitch to get cut; and
              (2) doesn't mean anything because (i) Kenny was QB1 when he was sitting behind Mason and (ii) Tomlin literally took both sides of the issue (yes but no).

                One clip? Come on bro.

I look at the situation like this. The Steelers coaches were focused on putting their QB's in manageable down and distance situations. The Steelers coaches knew that KP was still in the learning process. The Steelers took their shoots at times with who ever played QB.

Being conservative rarely loses games. Mistakes on game day is what generally loses games. That being said Pickens was number 1 in yards per reception in the NFL at 18.1.

You seem to forget the 3rd and 9 vs GB after the 2 minute warning where Pickett hit Pickens for a 28 yard gain but Austin was called for a pick.

Its real easy to forget some of the play calls over a season but its a prime example of Tomlin having confidence in Kenny late in a game.

Its not a Mason thing. You just remember it because it was more recent.

yep.. people love to use 1 clip as an example of a much larger agenda. Its all made up though.

I just provided evidence of Tomlin trusting Kenny on 3rd down and 9 with 2 minutes left vs GB.

Fans love the drama though.. lol.

Coaches become less conservative depending on the circumstances of a game. Several coaches take their shots early in games. What wins? Game by game basis.

Look fellow Steelers fans. I say game by game basis because every team presents different challenges. Every team is not the same team from week to week due to injuries. For example, the Browns didn't have to face Stroud in the 1st match up due to injury. The post season game Stroud.....

If every team stayed consistent from week to week without injuries ect. then.....it's a real conversation. The win "NOW FANS" can't be satisfied.

                        Game by game basis.

and Amari Cooper also had 11 receptions and 265 yards and 2TDs in the first matchup. He was gimpy and hadn’t played for a few weeks due to an ankle.

Any player that makes it into the NFL can have a career game. You don't need to convince me.

I've learned to analyze games on a game by game basis. I also understand that consistently performing at a high level "gets players paid". Can you convince the others?

                              This may be the case.

But I also remember (or at least feel like there were) lots of games where we had a 1 score lead with KP and were content to run three times, punt, and let the D win. Because we had very little faith in the offense. Because the offense on this team has been bad for a while (preceding Kenny).

Perhaps Tomlin knows full well what I have been saying for weeks Mason is gonna walk. Listen to the tone of Mason on the Ramon Foster show. Did NOT sound like someone who is returning.

                                It is ALL speculation.

Ya know what is NOT speculation?

That Tomlin CHOSE MASON TO CLOSE THE SEASON BECAUSE HE LIKED THE HIGHER SCORING.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:
