    Fix The Freaking Offense

Want to know where to point the finger for the recent playoff losses it should be in the direction of the offense.

Here's the evidence it's the offense that needs fixed. The following are the 1st quarter drives from the last 5 playoff losses.

2016 vs NE 2017 vs JAX 2020 vs CLE 2021 vs KC 2023 vs BUF
    Punt Punt DTD Punt Punt
    Punt TO TO Punt Punt
    TD TO Punt Punt TO
    TD TO Punt Punt
    Punt
If you counted you would see 2 scores in 5 games and 1 TD gifted to the other team for a net 1 TD. That ain't good enough in the playoffs.

and btw, in 2016 there were also two playoff wins. So how did the offense look in the first quarter?

2016 vs KC 2016 vs MIA
    FG TD
    FG TD
    FG TD
Those playoffs under Haley produced 5 TDs and 3 FGs. Since that time the offense has been dismal.

The Steelers need a new mindset on offense if they are going to get over the playoff hump.

QB is the biggest need on this team. And the hardest thing to find.

Hopefully we can bring in a good OC that can get more out of the guys we have. Because I don't think we'll be getting any big upgrade under center this off season.

In the last five playoff games they've given up 118 points before the offense scored. This is also a defensive problem. They don't stop anyone, they don't force turnovers, and they don't get to the opposing QB.

I don't believe Tomlin wants a change, he has his safe QB who doesn't turn the ball over.

Yeah, I kind think the D is the bigger problem.

We got owned in the trenches on both sides of the ball which makes it hard to do anything.

I think Mason showed enough that we could potentially win with him if we continue to build around him.

Gotta build the OL and DL.

Until then, the other stuff doesn’t matter a lot.

Also would like to see new OC and DC. The D gives up too many yards per rush and too many big plays. The O doesn’t take any chances down the field.

The main issue is bad prep and very predictable gameplanning. That goes for offense, defense the whole damn team. Tomlin is just too stubborn, he's been coaching 17 seasons now and I'd be shocked if anything really changes much at this point. Even this year it took a 3rd QB and an OC coaching change for the offense to even resemble a competent NFL offense after almost 3 seasons of futility and doing the same damn thing over and over and over again.

It's a scoring league. You don't score, you don't win, period. Constantly turning the ball over to playoff quality teams will stack the losses.

What’s the one constant since cowhers players are coaches left?
                That’s the problem.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

I see the position as a whole being downgraded...because i think Mason will receive an offer elsewhere that allows him to compete for a starting job...

Its BOTH. Even if we scored on out first drive given how the defense has played recently we give it right back.

I actually think whatever side is paid handsomely is more to blame when they fail. That side is supposed to be able to hold the team down in the playoffs.

and its also injuries and heart.

How many playoff games lately did we look like we wanted it more as a team? How many broken tackles are we giving up? How many stupid turnovers have we had lately?

I think a young Ben and a Troy can mask mistakes by units. But when you dont have Hofers on your team, the team has to play solid as a unit and we keep coming up short.

Ben was old, Pouncey was old, Watt tried but could only do it for 1 quarter.

When is the last time we stopped someone on their first drive besides KC?

                          With this i agree.

I think we would all agree that KP8 is not a finished product. 20 games into their careers, most quarterbacks arent.

My question is how much more can he develop. And is that enough?

The fear is KP is just running on a treadmill and will never get to the finish line.

In 2023 he showed NOTHING for us to be positive about moving forward. He could be our version of Zach Wilson

                              First possession results:

2016 vs NE: FG - NE
2017 vs JAX: TD - JAX
2020 vs CLE: DTD - CLE
2021 vs KC: Punt - KC
2023 vs BUF: TD - BUF

So the defense has allowed 2 TDs, 1 FG in 5 games.
