    Surprising Stat?

I was listening to the Terrible Podcast and a listener question was about how the AFCN teams must have set a record for number of games against teams with a winning record.

That got me thinking: I wonder what the Steelers "Strength of Victory" was this year.

Turns out, the strength of victory of the Steelers this year was 0.571.

That's the second highest number in the league. The highest 0.588, was from Arizona. But that might be because they only have 4 wins (one against us).

    What does it mean?

    Probably nothing.

Except maybe that we've beaten a bunch of pretty good teams over the year. So what's one more?

We've sucked against crappy teams. But the good news here is that crappy teams don't get to play in the playoffs.

I think it means we beat a bunch of backup QBs on teams with good records.

This is certainly part of it.

But the first time we beat Baltimore in large part because we had three consecutive drives where the league MVP (1) threw a pick, (2) fumbled on a sack, and (3) took a sack on 4th down.

I don't think we've got a great chance to win this weekend. But we do have a chance. More than when we played KC last time I think.

5-1 against the AFCN will get you a pretty high rating considering every team had a winning record.

If only it was just divisional games that counted for seeding, we'd be the top seed
too bad those games against those 2-9 teams have to matter

Sucking against crappy teams is a Tomlin hallmark.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

I guess being very good against good teams must also be a hallmark then.

Philly lost to a crappy AZ and a crappy NYG. Little was predictable about this season.

Yes it is, And Tomlin has not won a playoff game in SIX seasons. The best NFL teams are in the playoffs year after year. This is a complete failure.

Philly and Hurts are turning into a pumpkins. I think they have lost five of their last six games and are the worst team in the playoffs.

To a degree, read that this is the 8th game he's been a 9.5 pt dog or worse, 1-6 so far, only win last year vs. Tampa.

But yeah, in general he does a better job getting the team ready when he feels threatened. When AZ comes to town and the team is winning, he's at his worst and it's never gotten better over the years. It's cost seeding and even playoff appearances over the years.

That's what the math must say.

We're also something like a 70% win rate over teams under 500.

Playing Mitch didn’t help but Tomlin is to blame for that.

sucked against crappy teams with Mitch at QB.

thankfully that is over and done now.
