I can't believe Carr makes $40M/year. THAT is where you don't want to be with your QB situatiom. If you miss on a draft pick, it sets you back a few years but you're not cap-strapped.

Which is why I prefer grooming Kenny to win games with modest stats vs losing games while stat padding and airing it out. Those stats can fool a FO into thinking they can win with a QB if they just tweak a few things but the reality is you get the Carr/Herbert experience of almost winning but coming up short when the game is on the line.

Well, we lost a few games. When did Kenny look good statistically in these losses? How about never. I am not fooled with his QB play winning or losing. Maybe he impressed twice in 17 games played! He isn't the answer. I have said before I will give him until Thanksgiving. By that time, he will have started enough games. Lucky For us the draft is next April. I think the Steelers should draft a QB in round one of two.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

I am not here to defend KP, but as a Pitt alumni who follows them a lot more closely than you OSU guys do...

Pitt is a mediocre at best to terrible program.

Pat Narduzzi is a cro-magnum egomaniac that believes in D first, D only.

He goes through O coordinators like a hot knife through butter.

Whipple KP's OC was so successful that Narduzzi kicked him to curb.

O-line was never a recruiting priority until KP's last couple of years.

          There were injuries...

My only point is that like what is happening now in his NFL stint, KP's breakout year was likely more in spite of the Pitt program than due to it.

I think there-in lies the problem. There are way too many variables to know exactly for sure.

That is why I was so adamant on getting rid of Canada. I want Pickett to succeed but even with my bias I am not sure he will.

As a Steeler fan, I want to find out and they move on of not.

And as long as that "too many variables" thing stays in place it will lengthen and perhaps handcuff the Steelers financially.

Did you see the call the refs made vs Wake Forest yesterday? Total gift due to the Kenny fake slide. I’ve never seen a slide marked so far back.

I knew when Kenny entered the draft and he was rated a 1st rd pick that the Steelers would select him if he was there. The Rooney's were not going to pass on another Pitt QB. They passed on Danny Boy and have never lived that down for what 40 years?
                They had to pick Kenny.

I know some of you are saying BS. Think about it, if the Steelers(Rooneys) really thought he was a great talent don't you think they would have moved up 2 to 4 spots to get him? They moved up to get Bush and Broderick Jones. Just think about it.

That being said he deserves a chance. The Rooney's aren't helping him keeping Canada as his OC. Think about it people the Steelers are about tradition and history. They do stuff that other organizations don't do. How long would Canada survived with any other organization. The Rooney's have redeemed themselves by taking the Pitt QB. The Pittsburghers can't say , well you should have taken Danny back in 83.

We didn’t have to, we wanted to. Pickett had a good year but he is far from Dan Marino as a QB in college. I think fans may have been upset but would have also understood if they passed on him. Small hands, only 1 year, etc.

I think we took him because we watched him a lot and actually think he can be a franchise QB.

While I don’t think Pitt is a second rate program the reality is they probably are when it comes to overall talent. But when players are drafted from Pitt the have historically been pretty high impact players.

                    Russ Grimm
                    Marino
                    Dorsett
                    Curtis Martin
                    Ironhead Heyward
                    Shady McCoy
                    Fitzgerald
                    Revis
                    Aaron Darnold

                    and hopefully Kenny is next.

I’m sure there are a few more but for a private school a lot of Pitt players who make the NFL have been game changers
