You do know I was teasing myself. I started the Montana comp. When you called him Kenny Montana before I found it hilarious even though I?m a part of the butt of that joke.

BTW, much respect on the spiritual path my brother.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

    TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

Lol, maybe go back and read what I wrote about Johnny. It was pretty dead on specifically about his success hinging on his substance use issues. Anyways I was being playful with my post if you didnt catch that.

I think that while each would have had a say in hiring Canada, we can assume that because of Tomlin's prior relationship that it was his push. Kind of like he made the call and then asked for the go ahead.

The bigger question is whose call is it to keep him employed when most people realize he should no longer be. I wonder if it is Rooney because he doesn't want to pay someone to sit home, or Tomlin out of loyalty, or Tomlin because he is mandating this simple offense? We can all speculate but none of us know the answer, but whoever it is, it is not working.

Canada was the OC at Pitt and shared facilities with the Steelers on the Southside.

He was OC for one year in 2016. I would think that the relationship with Tomlin, who was also there in 2016 and continued a relationship after he moved on, would be the overriding force. I think it's much more likely that Tomlin would have brought him forward than Colbert or Rooney. Could be wrong but just speculation.

What we're seeing from Tomlin is nothing new. Wasted challenges. Unprepared teams. No mid-game or mid-season adjustments. I've never been a Tomlin hater, but I haven't been a fan. He's nothing but a gasbag, saying words that mean absolutely nothing.

Yes, Canada needs to go and should have been gone long ago. But I feel the same about Tomlin. If any of us had underachieved over the course of a decade as much as he has, with zero evidence of growth or change, we would've lost our jobs well before now.

While I'm sure Tomlin played a part.. that one year the Pitt offense average 41 points a game and beat Penn State at a sold out Heinz Field and beat Clemson who went on to win the National Championship.

That one year got him the job at LSU. I think his success at Pitt played a larger role. Steeler brass got to see him up close and personal. We also drafted Connor in 2016. We were a fan of that offense.

I have to disagree about the underachieving over the course of a decade.

When you make a timeline of it, its easy to see why Tomlin still has a job.

                  2008 SB win
                  2009 (Ben's first SA accusation)
                  2010 SB appearance
                  2010 (Ben's second SA accusation)
                  2011-15 Three playoff appearances
                  2016 AFCCG

I think the 2017 to 2023 is where the real frustration comes in and the last 3 years with Canada have been ridiculous. I guess I have an issue with people saying the last 10 years because based on that timeline fans are implying Tomlin should've made 3.. or 4 SB's. Now, maybe he should've but that would put him in some serious company. I do believe he should be released after the 2024 contract is up based on the last 7 years but I'm not surprised one bit he lasted so long given our history and his first 10 years of success.

So, both that game and the playoff game that year was in Indy.

I was at the MNF game (lower level, like row J - damn good seats). It was brutal.

My brother was at the playoff game. (He floats from team to team and was a Colts fan at the time - such is life in Kentucky without an NFL team).

I need him to attend more Steelers games... he's been to 3 and they've never lost

most people totally forgot or ignored that Canada was the Pitt OC in 2016. I think its because of the Tomlin/Dino scholarship conspiracy.

The fact that we share practice facilities with Pitt shouldve helped folks connect the dots.

Okay, then I'll rephrase my last statement. If any of us had underachieved over the course of 7 years as much as he has, with zero evidence of growth or change, we would've lost our jobs well before now. With the talent he's had during his tenure, making it to a 3rd or 4th Super Bowl was certainly possible. But I understand that's not an easy thing to achieve. However, zero playoff wins in 6 years is a joke.
