No matter WHEN he's fired. The fact that he made it thru last season and thru the offseason scares the heck outta me..... it shows me a serious lack of judgement. You, Me, Pittsburgh Dad all know. Why don't they??

Been off the Tomlin train for years. I recognize he’s a great motivator and communicator, but I’ve believed for a long time he’s a stubborn insecure narcissist who only hires coaches who won’t threaten him. He has never been described as innovative and as has been mentioned above, has no coaching tree. Motivation and good drafting can keep you in the mix, but the Steelers are not a contender and haven’t been for a decade. They are smoke and mirrors living off a reputation earned a long time ago - and a team that is not feared by anyone in the league. His stubbornness wasted 10 years of Big Ben. It wasted the killer B’s. It is wasting cam’s career and TJ’s career. I don’t know if Kenny is the franchise QB we hope he is, but every game with Canada is another wasted game and delayed development.

I’ve said all this before. It doesn’t matter. Artie doesn’t care - and why should he? Steelers keep selling out - and yes I’m a hypocrite because I continue to go to Heinz. I’m either an optimist or a closet masochist.

But my fears have been evolving beyond Tomlin. I’m starting to wonder if Art Rooney is the second coming of Mike Brown. A pretender who isn’t his dad and who is overseeing the decline of a once proud franchise.

Really hope I’m wrong. Don’t see any evidence of that thus far……

I'm coming around to the thought that maybe Tomlin has secretly let it be known that he won't resign with the Steelers after 2024 season. Colbert said once that the Steelers always work to a 3 year plan. This was Kahn's Yr1. Kahn is drafting some of the building blocks for a future team. Pickett is merely a stop gap QB (the best one available in a weak class). Once the OL is in place after the next draft, then they will go in search of their franchise QB with a new HC (unless Pickett miraculously turns things around).

          Don’t blame khan.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

Yep. And you know for Canada to have made it through means Tomlin gave the thumbs up for it.

It?s not who hired that?s in question. It?s who has the authority to fire. Many say/speculate that Tomlin doesn?t.

True. Canada was here before Khan came aboard. Tomlin is the root problem.

wasn't there talk that rooney did the firing of Fichtner? I'm pretty sure I saw that here in the last couple of weeks.

IF...Tomlin truly hasn't had the power to hire/fire his own OC then he's been a puppet coach all along. Because real coaches (Parcell, Walsh, Gibbs, Bellichick) hire and fire their assistant coaches.

I mean how much more time are we going to waste on KPs rookie contract? I want to know if the KP fanboys are right and it?s all Canada. So I would fire him now if they have a better replacement in mind. Use this season to implement the new O

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Rooney, Colbert and Tomlin hired Canada.

While singling out Tomlin may fit the narative you want to create, the Steelers organization has made it clear many times that decisions are made by a combination of ownership, GM and Head Coach
"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"

I was the first one here who suggested the Montana ceiling to Shawn, so he knows I’m talking about.

I see your point. But that would require Rooney looking over the landscape and anyone who he may want may be currently employed as a OC or DC of another team right now.
