I've Lost All Faith in the Steelers Except For:

    Omar Khan

The fact that Matt Canada made it thru the Offseason to this point is absurd. How can anyone have faith in Mike Tomlin at this point (BTW There's no record of me being a Tomlin Hater). How can he NOT see what we see?? I believe it's PRIDE.

THE FACT that Tomlin has no "Coaching Tree" says a lot. He's been around 17 yrs without producing any significant/desirable coaches around the league (Arians & LeBeau were holdovers).

That says a lot. I'm thinking he likes people under him he has full control over and do not overshadow him.

I am not sure even if I still have faith in him. The CC trade was epic, but JPJr isn't even getting much playing time. Semalo?? PP?? Jones only starting due to an injury? Benton?? Herbig?? Hernig2?? Holcomb started good, so did Roberts. Now, not so much.

Maybe as Steeler fans we tend to overvalue out players and players we draft/ sign.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

they could sign Hercules, Shaq, Captain America, etc. If they don't play them, it won't matter. Khan can't give out hats, just good players to tomlin & co. Who plays and starts in on him.

I agree with the OP. But, I got off the tomlin train before the Green Bay sb loss.

Khan put together some peices with the limited resources he had (FA $$) ... so far he's been good, aggressive which is a change.
But at the end of the day.....your have a .500 College Coaching Staff it really doesn't matter

Yes Sir. I wonder if Rooney gets it. The leadership of this team seems to think that any warm body in any position will do.

I think the lack of "tree" is an indication of how risk averse Tomlin really is. Rather than gamble on the up-and-comer, He'd rather get a re-tread, who the rest of the league already knows who that person is...

I forgot about this but I saw it on another forum, I believe most of the coaches are under contract through just this season which I always found odd when the contracts were announced. I'm not sure if Tomlin's contract ends after this season or next but it feels like some big changes are finally coming especially with Khan now the GM. What I don't get is the reasoning behind signing these coaches to such short deals, just seems like wasted seasons and a team without a roadmap but we'll see what happens.

At this point, If Khan is who you (we) think he is, then he fires Canada (at the end of the year) and hires a competent OC from a team that has had success offensively. It isn't hard to figure out. Hire an Assistant OC from :

                Miami
                Buffalo
                Chiefs
                Bengals
                Green Bay

Someone who has been involved in a real offense in this league.

He gets re-treads because if he hires a guy like Kelen Moore (for example) and he does well, Tomlin feels threatened. As he should.

I think that when they get a new OC, they want to give him long enough to get his system established, but short enough that if it isn't working, they can pull the plug.

Seems that they believe 3 years about the right window.

The fact that Canada is still around gives me serious pause about Khan as well.

Should Khan fire him now? Or should he wait until after the last game before the bye?

The sooner the better. No excuse for this offense, I've seen better in HS. We are the laughing stock of the league.

yeah, he should be fired today. Should've been fired after the game to be honest.

That's really the question with both Khan and Tomlin. If the attorney in charge isn't letting them do it then all of this falls firmly on him.

Dan Rooney was basically the architect of all of the success that the Steelers had from 1972 through at least the mid-aughts. Wonder if they're just a rudderless ship in some sense without him. As the owner, it's certainly within Art II's powers to stick his nose into football ops, however, he didn't grow up working in player personnel and scouting and all of the football ops like his father (and his uncle) did.
