Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.
Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.
*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. *** -

Okay, what is Pickett percentage on the 10-20 yard throws? I want to know as these passes are completed far more often than the 21 yard plus passes.
He was 2nd behind Geno Smith but it that doesn't count if you complete say five 21+ passes a year. It is mostly all Pickens hauling in 50 . 50 balls which for him are more like 70 . 30
I just gave you a link and a bunch of information about the deep ball passing numbers. That is the part of his game that you questioned. You now have your answer, and it's not what you thought it was going to be.
If it's that important to you, you can spend your time looking up all those stats. You're the one trying to make points bashing Pickett. I just showed you that you were wrong about the deep ball passing, and it has actually been a strength of his game. I'm not here to make your argument for you.
He's not perfect and he still has some things to work on in his game, but he has shown some really positive things and has only started 12 games in the NFL.
I don't understand why you keep going after Pickett. Even if you didn't like his game coming out of college, when the Steelers drafted him you would think you would do your homework and already know some of these stats before you completely trash his game.
I liked him coming out of Pitt. I don't know where his ceiling is going to be, but I embrace the kid and I objectively watch how he performs and base my evaluations and projections on that. I support him and I am actively rooting for him to succeed, because he seems like a really good dude and he's the starting QB for my favorite NFL team.
Leading up to the draft in 2013, everybody was mocking Jarvis Jones to the Steelers. I told everyone that would listen that I thought it was going to be a mistake to draft him and I actively wished that they would take someone else. Well, they did draft him...and the second they did I was hoping I was wrong and I was pulling for him to really turn into something special. I even defended him and asked fans to be patient with him and give him some time. He ended up not being a good draft pick but my point is that I don't get trying to tear down any hope of KP being a good QB, or not seeing anything positive about a player on your team. It seems you are going out of your way to say he sucks even when the eye test tells you some good things and there is data to back that up.
Just try to be more patient and see what he becomes rather than saying he's a failure before he has a chance to show you whether he is or not on the field with his performance.Comment

I know on FB groups fans are harsh but a lot of it is from Penn State fans who refuse to root for Kenny.
I’m a Pitt fan but I also root for Penn State although I’m not emotionally attached to them in any way. Can’t imagine rooting against a Steeler due to where they went to college.
I hate Notre Dame, Ohio State and have no love for Bama, USC, Florida and damn near any powerhouse school but the moment we draft someone from these schools I’m a fan.Steelers 27

I think it will be a blast watching him grow.
I think KP can flat-out throw the ball. I think he wasn't trusting his eyes as to what he was seeing. He was probably confused with reads at times and didn't trust the throws. He seemed to be a little inaccurate at times, but I think that was because of some footwork issues.
On the positive side he has shown that he can throw with anticipation. He can lead receivers to the open area throwing the ball ahead of schedule and under pressure. That is a great trait. He also showed that he can escape the pocket and keep his eyes downfield. He is great at throwing guys open while moving. He did it many times last year, particularly with Freiermuth. Kenny would intentionally throw the ball off of the intended route and place the ball to a spot where only his guy could get it. Pretty impressive.
And by all accounts he works his ass off. I think that's important. I bet it's easy to pull a R Leaf and feel like making it to the NFL with a big rookie contract means you've already crossed the finish line.Comment

yeah, there are some on here who had harsh things to say when he was drafted. Most of them changed their minds the more they saw him play but there are a few on here who refuse to see anything positive from him.

I'm a Penn State fan, but that has no bearing on things once a player gets to my team. The only thing that matters is that they are a Steeler, and I hope they are great.
I watch a lot of football, and I enjoy the draft process and evaluating players. I have my own opinions of players and how they translate to NFL football just like anyone else. I like Pickett and think he has a chance to be a very good NFL QB. Will he get there? Who knows. But it will be fun to watch and see where this ends up.Comment

To me, the most encouraging thing about him is that he seems to do well under pressure. Seems to me that must be one of the most difficult things to do as a QB.

I love that he's a grinder. I can't wait to see him this season to see how much he has improved.Comment

well. You are one of the few.
and tgat goes both ways because I see a lot of Pitt fans down on Porter for the sane reasons PSU fans on social media were down on KP.
once they become Steelers it shouldn?t matter what college they went toComment

Once they are in black and gold I don't care if they are from Mars. However, we do have some here who want certain players to fails to demonstrate "how smart they are" and "I told you"
Jarvis Jones is my example. I NEVER wanted him to fail. I just knew he would because I actually watched him play and didn't read scouting reports and then invest everything into them,"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment
