So, change the whole system because James Harrison couldn't play DE, but was built to be an OLB in the 34 defense... make the other 10 guys on defense figure it out

But the great news is that PF is a good player.

And while the KG experiment didn't seem to work, I think Cole was good for us last season. Not the elite C play we've been spoiled with over time, but solid.
to make things worse, as if their evaluation wasn't bad enough.

quinn Meinerz, another C/OG has started 23 of 28 games since being drafted by the broncos.

          So true.
Maybe that is why he went from Cowhers bench to DPOY under Tomlin.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

          TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

He did have insane athleticism too if I recall correctly, without some of the size concerns.

Seriously, Steelerofdeville, really? So your going to actually say that Humphries wouldn't/couldn't fit in our system? I don't think anyone is buying that. Colbert just F.U.B.A.R.

It was only a 3rd round miss, but it feels so much worse for some reason. I guess it's because Colbert bragged about the pick, like he was the drafting sensei of all time.

I'm saying that Colbert wanted a guy whose mobility he could trust because of the pulling/trapping they require out of their center. I don't think Colbert thought he'd be a bad player, just not as effective in the system they planned to deploy.

Much like when they planned to go back to a power running scheme - they chose Najee instead of Etienne. Not that they thought Etienne would be bad, but they simply didn't believe that he would work as well in the system they planned to deploy.

Basically, Colbert wanted a center that could snap the ball, then get out to the edge and lead the play as Pouncey did. Right or wrong, that's what they were looking for. I called attention to that during that draft cycle, but so many of y'all couldn't see it -- and apparently still can't see it.

My problem with the whole thing is that I expected the selection to be draft darling Quinn Meinerz, who was quick/agile and had a really good senior bowl week and some mocked as high as late first, but went a few selections later. If they make him the selection, this isn't even a discussion - they look like a team with a plan. Instead, they took a shot on Kendrick Green and missed.
