I wanted Mitch at the beginning of the year too.

His play showed me that I was pretty strongly incorrect.

If anything they should have stuck it out longer with him instead of throwing Kenny to Buffalo, Tampa, Miami, and Philly with no offseason prep and no help. Either that or make Kenny the guy from rookie minicamp on.

I am with you and NorthCoast...I also expected more from MT so that KP could go in when really ready.

I still think MT is the right guy as a our back up

I was like most others and HOPED Mitch would be Josh Allen light like some predicted.

However, the moment we selected Kenny I wanted him to start day 1. I just didn’t have faith he would be a better option than Kenny based on his past play.

First week he signed I was all in.. but the more I thought about it the more I realized Mitch had only 8 throws the prior year and it was all fluff, not film, regarding his growth as a backup in Buffalo.

I think KP starting Day 1 would had been a disaster. He needed time to get his feet under him.

That was what I thought we should have done at the beginning of the season.

But MT was really bad IMO. And he seemed to be obviously trying to hit big plays as a try out for other jobs IMO.

In the end, I don't think it was bad that KP got action against some really good teams. Doesn't seem to have broken him or anything.

I get its Cincinnati on the road but I think if he got first team reps earlier in camp or we just gave the whole season to him he would’ve turned the corner quicker.

Who know’s though, but I would’ve been fine letting him start week one vs throwing him in with no reps and having his first start in Buffalo.

There's not really a "right" call with a rookie QB. You just have to grin and bear it.

Maybe some view his first few games as disasters but I think he showed he doesn’t crumble under pressure or bad outings.

Honestly I think his first 4 starts were harder than the first 4 games of the season.

I think the first 4 games were much easier than the 4 he started.

Yeah, I think he showed he's not bust material, even if he doesn't live up to my expectations. I like the kid's moxie.

I think this is a fair assessment of what he's shown so far.

I'm hopeful that the sparks of "greatness" we saw in those last two games turn into something real and consistent.
