My understanding is that college players don't play under C a lot. I think KP said that he wasn't as comfortable as he wasn't to be under center. This fits with the theme of us not forcing KP to do things that he wasn't comfortable with / not good at yet.

Who knows if this is the correct strategy for development. Maybe pushing him to do things he wasn't good at in year 1 would have made him get better faster. And maybe doing that would have broken him.

I don't think QB development is something that teams are generally good at...if it's possible at all once at the NFL level. I get that some guys like Allen make big changes. But since most guys don't make those changes, I wonder how close to the finished product QBs are when they come into the league. Maybe success in passing is mostly about whether or not they can adjust to the massive jump in speed of the game? And maybe that's more of a yes / no rather than a learned skill? Who knows.
That's one of the great things about Marino: He didn't seem to need much time in getting used to the NFL. Pretty amazing how quickly he mastered the game. He tore up this league nearly immediately. Amazing.

Getting Stephon Diggs sure helps a QB's accuracy. I think if we draft or acquire another stud WR this year we will also see Pickett have a "drastic" change in year 2.
Stop your Addison hinting you homer.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

ha.. while I want Addison if we add another weapon at WR who is legit all of a sudden it gets MUCH easier to see Kenny make a huge leap.

We can credit OTA’s, footwork, QB coaches, etc.. but adding a legit #1 does wonders for a QB who was inaccurate in prior years.

Do it with the same players then sure, QB gets all the credit. But improving your WR’s usually leads to improved accuracy.

Didn't translate into points, where we were 26th.

                      Aren’t points just “counting stats”?

Maybe the source are the geniuses at pff?

If you think about it it's a symptom of the RZ problem. If KP doesn't get better there then it's all for nought.

I agree, points are counting stats. The source I'm pretty sure is Football Outsiders. I'm guessing it's because we had a lot of long drives that didn't turn into points, so EPA was good on 80% of the plays, terrible in the red zone?

Playcalling and scheme has to get better, too. He can't be consistently asked to fit balls into tight windows to blanketed receivers because the first and second down runs failed.

Also, it's OK to score outside the red zone, something that is anathema to the design of this offense.

The Steelers offense isn't designed to score points, it's designed to burn clock, play for FGs, hope for TDs.
