Here we go again with the bpa talk

Why you guys insists that the Steelers draft any different than any other team in the nfl is laughable.
The Steelers draft for need. They draft a player that they feel is the bpa for their system, at a position of need for them.
They pass over plenty of players that are better. Why? Because they don’t need that position.
No different than any other nfl organization.
I have never heard any other franchise in the history of any sport, have a philosophy of drafting positions they don’t need and are drafting worst player available.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

They can talk that BPA stuff if they want; If they don't fix the lines, we will be talking about how bad the lines are all through the year again just like the last 2 years. It's amazing how after every year, with most talking about how bad the lines are, then the FO makes a couple of bottom basement moves and then all of a sudden guys think other positions need to take priority over the bad lines we have.

Fix the lines..then everything else will fall in place that much quicker.

It's definitely not just BPA at any position but if top 3 OTs and CBs are off the board at 17 and they don't feel there is an ILB or DT worthy of that pick they will consult their board and take the BPA-APON. Best-player-available-at-positions-of-need or maybe BPA-PN if you want to leave out the "of" and "at".

Yes, steelers draft based on NEED.

I could see them drafting the top guy on their list that may not be at their top positions of need though.

This problem can be solved if they just ask all the smart people on message boards what to do
"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"

Yep. I've argued this with more than one of the board "experts" who insist that Steelers always draft purely for BPA

              ridiculous

They currently have enough areas of need that there may not be too many positions they exclude

whoever we select, he will be a Steelers kind of player who was the BPA at a position of need.

and of course, this goes without saying but he will also be the steal of the draft.

It's propaganda that the fanbase swallows and parrots.

Truly drafting BPA is what you do when you're really strong and don't have many deficiencies. They haven't legit drafted BPA in years because lately, there's always a weakness. And with that, it's BPA at a position of need.

For the most part, I don't see that the Steelers have necessarily reached - they've just missed. Devin Bush was considered a 1st rounder. He simply didn't pan out. Same with Jarvis Jones.

In the last 20+ years, the only true reach that I can think of is Artie Burns who graded out as 2nd/3rd round prospect by most. They were so focused on William Jackson and when he was sniped by Cincy, frankly they seemed to panic.

Pretty much everyone else, whether we liked the selection or not, they weren't reaches.

One last point on the BPA topic. Frankly, half of us would lose our minds if BPA was Bijan Robinson and the team actually took him.
