Assuming the prospects who had visits scheduled did indeed come in, we know the Pittsburgh Steelers' entire pre-draft visit list. By position:

    QB - 2
    WR - 4
    OT - 2
    iOL - 5
    DL - 5
    EDGE - 3
    CB - 7
    S - 2

And two local prospects (Porter + Ford-Wheaton).

    Nice list.
Years ago someone took these visits and put round projections behind each player.
I’d do it but I am lazy.
    Any takers?
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

im starting to wonder if jack campbell is even on their radar.
Yes, they went to Iowa’s pro day, but there were other prospects working out there too. LVN, Riley etc.

there weren’t many ilbs on their visit lists.
there hasn’t been any info on drew sanders, one of the top prospects at ilb.

do they think the FA signings are good enuff along with M Robinson ?

Those visits... not a single ILB... I'm with ya.

I think they went to pro day and had dinner with Simpson.
which he’s been a better indicator for 1st round picks in recent years.

But that’s a little high fir Simpson. And isn’t he a converted safety.
maybe someone for their big Nickel scheme

I won't do that, but I can more broadly see trends:
            • Most of OT and CB visits are top 40-ish players. That's your picks 17 & 32.
            • I also see a LOT of day 2 C (and guards who play C) visits. I believe they're looking for a *starting* center.
            • They have a lot of day 2 d-linemen come in
            • They have some day 2 WR visits, but I think that became less of a need with the Allen Robinson trade. That's not to say WR is impossible, but I think it's a lot less likely as compared to a few weeks ago. You can now wait and see with CA3, plus Boykin takes a spot. There's no need to stress about WR6 at this point.
            • Finally, edge looks like a round 3-4 target...

With all that information (and assuming no trades), you could almost construct a draft (by position) for the first 4 rounds of the draft.
            1.17 - CB or OT
2.32 - CB or OT (whichever wasn't nabbed at 1.17)
            2.49 - C, DL or Edge
            3.80 - C, DL or Edge
            4.120 - C, DL, Edge or QB

You don't know who will be on the board when they pick, but they certainly have the places in the draft mapped out.

This just crapped all over my own mock... bwahahaha

Immediately afterwards, they signed BOTH Holcomb and Roberts... lol

But, it's also sneaky because they had Bresee and Myles Murphy at that dinner, so who knows.

Honestly, if this holds fairly true (which 1 did and 2a appears likely), y'all can hold me to making this "mapping" for future years.

It was a kinda fun assessment...

4 of the 30 visitors were viewed at their pro day by khanlin

                    jones, bresee, porter, washington.

                    3 were drafted

Porter and Washington fell into their laps - don't you think some of that is just how the board plays out?

Like, I don't think they planned on taking Washington, for sure - but, they kinda had to at that point.

For all of my C talk, once Schmitz, Avila, etc were gone and I was convinced they were going with a speed ILB by the time the pick got to them.

In moving down they looked good in getting one, then suddenly from picks 85 to 91, there were 4 "speed" ILB taken. I was 100% certain they'd go for Dorian Williams who went 2 picks before, with the Bills trying to replace Edmunds.

Early 2024 offseason call: They'll get a new C and a speed ILB either in FA or by the end of day 2.

                        4.120 - C, DL, Edge or QB
Can't predict trades so the exact pick number was off, but the same general areas held true...

yes. I agree they were prepared to not have d wash available there. Or else why trade down from 80.

thats why I question all this “bully ball” talk.

if he was gone I don’t see another TE at 93. I don’t think another one was drafted until the 5th round. Certainly no one offering what he does best.

With the other ilb’s off the board, I think herbig woukd have been the pick at 93 if d wash was gone.

To paraphrase Tomlin. When you have red paint, you paint the barn red. And we are very happy that when we went paint shopping this weekend, the store had plenty of red paint in stock.
