What is the Steeler way to you?

What is the Steeler way to you? Is it outdated or under valued? Does it fit with the modern personalities of the athletes today? Is change good or bad?
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

To me it’s simple, the name on the front of the jersey is always more important than the name on the back…team first

The NFL has strict rules about the uniform. A player MUST wear the right shoes or face a fine. I'm guessing your response is geared towards team first. You don't see that as much these days with free agency being what is, and past players like Bell, or Brown. Bryant too. Tomlin has had more than his share of diva players that don't fit the " Steeler way " .

its a business. Every team has players who want to get paid. Look at KC, Hill left for Miami and claimed Tua was more accurate than Mahomes.

anyway, the “Steeler way” is build the team through the draft, play good defense, extend good players and find value in FA without killing the cap.

In the building I think it's something about people in the FO caring about players as people. You hear Ike talk about his relationship with Rooney. You hear players always talking about Tomlin caring about them as people, not just a product.

I also think it means something about how the vets come back a lot and keep relationships with current players. Sounds like old Steelers are generally welcomed into practices and cap and things to talk with the current guys. Players often seem to talk about how the team operates more like a "family" than other teams.

And something about how vets are helping young guys learn even though those young guys might take their jobs sometime in the near future.

Re: team building. I think it means trying to put a team on the field that's competitive without selling out the future. I don't think the Steelers are ever doing to do what the Rams did to try to create a 1-3 year window at the expense of the next few years after that. I think they generally believe that if you can consistently punch tickets to the playoffs, then eventually you end up winning the single game elimination tournament (which has a much higher element of chance than a 17 game regular season).

Lately it seems resting on the laurels of trophies that were won before the Reagan administration.

I think the standard has quietly/silently been lowered. Now a lot of members claim a 500 season is success. That wasn't the standard prior to 2008.

Standards we set for ourselves should be about process. Because you control the process.

Good results generally come consistently when you install good processes.

what are you talking about? Our last non losing season was in 2003. Of course no one would talk about it back in 200&. The only reason it is “talked about” is because its now a record.

We’ve had 12 win seasons since 2008 and made an AFCCG in 2016.

The .500 season is the floor not the ceiling.

It really is sad seeing you guys intentionally reduce your intelligence on here.

Every time someone questions the organization, they're met with "SIX TROPHIES!!!!!!" 2/3 of them came before a lot of you were born, Steelers need to move into the 21st century as an organization.

Exactly how many .500 or losing seasons have we had in the last 10 years? How many other franchises can match our wins over the past decade?

Some of you guys are unbelievable.

I hear you Windy; I was in three rivers stadium; in 35 or lower degree games sometimes. There are a couple of us who are really qualified to know about those first 4 rings. The Rose Bowl Super Bowl as arguably the most awesome game for me.
