I think the two sides have reached an impasse. I and others don't think they're ever going to win anything significant with this offensive philosophy, others do, or at least are good with it winning enough games to tease a 7th playoff spot every other year, and that's good enough.
Going in circles, going to redirect my focus on FA and the draft.Comment

I'm most certainly not expecting a SB every year, I don't think anyone is really. I think fans just want a team they believe has a chance at one eventually. Do you really get that vibe from this team? Once again the overall issue I find with Tomlin over the last like 7-8 years is it feels like the team under him isn't really progressing anywhere, it's more like spinning wheels. Nobody except maybe feltdizz feels bringing back Canada is a good move, how much progression is the offense really going to make under him? In some categories the offense actually got worse this season...I know, I know KP was a rookie lol.
I think if we can get good production out of the offense while KP is still on his rookie deal we can compete for and potentially win a SB.
I think any defense with TJ and Minkah in their primes will be above average.
If Kenny can become an above average QB in the next year or two, I think we'll have a shot.
But a team with a shot could still draw KC, Buffalo, Cincy, or Jax (if Lawrence is the real deal) in the first round and lose. But losing in the first round won't mean that the team wasn't good enough to win. That's the great (and terrible) thing about single elimination tournaments with good teams in the bracket.
I think it's pretty clear that the Steelers goal is to try to get into the playoffs as often as they can. Because single elimination tournaments have a pretty strong element of chance. And if you are forced to play a game of chance, the more times you play the more likely you are to win. So I think they favor the chances of winning a SB by being consistently competitive over the chances of pushing all the chips in on a single year.
LA won with the second strategy. But imagine what would have happened if Stafford got hurt in their SB year instead of last season. It would have all been for nothing because look how terrible they were this year even when Stafford was playing. They were the defending SB champs and they were worse than our rebuilding team.
I don't like that we are bringing Canada back. I think that reduces our competitiveness for next season. But I also have less understanding of the market for OCs than the Steelers probably do. But I guess I've seen enough to think that I know that MC isn't a good OC, so I'd be ready to move on and try to find someone who I think can be average to above average. But there isn't anything I can do that changes that...so I'm hoping that improvement from KP and the OL (and DJ reverting back to his mean) will make a difference for next season.Comment

Us bitching about the same thing using the same arguments is tiresome.
I'll try to follow your lead on this too.Comment

***We should focus on free agency and the draft. Hopefully we can find some definitive moves made in free agency; I"m looking forward to seeing what we do.Comment

My guess is that you'd get a good idea of who brings it up more by looking through thread titles.Comment

It boils down to how the players perform regardless of philosophy.
I can certainly understand doubts or constructive criticisms. The completely negative stance that you and those like have is borderline insanity.
Why are you here if you don't believe or have hope that this team can grow and get better?Comment

You have to have hope, positive thinking, and have belief to get out of the negative rut.Comment

But that's the best I think fans can hope for next season with this offense. KP improves in spite of Canada and somehow manages to get more control over the offense, maybe some more no huddle, maybe Tomlin sees it, but the problem is the system itself just isn't good so idk. Let's hope for the best.Comment

Exactly, and I don't buy the KP excuse, either. The offense doesn't scheme up any free yards, doesn't use PA, doesn't include hots, it's designed to churn out first downs 3 plays at a time and consume clock to keep the game close.
I also don't buy that we don't have the talent. Najee, DJ, and Muth are all very talented vets. Warren and Pickens were explosive rookies. Get the ball to these guys in space, that shouldn't be considered rocket science to scheme up.
They don't try because I really think the #1 goal on offense is to shorten the game. So frustrating to watch.Comment
