    Why are you even here?

I find all the negativity perplexing.

If I had the level of despair of some of you I would not even bother.

Even back in the Bubby days, Mark Malone etc, I "chose" a hopeful outlook.

I WANTED CANADA GONE. But since he is here I hope that he is better than I think.

If you TRULY think the team is hopeless, the draft, free agency... none of it matters. Why do you even care?

Day after day, nothing but whining about things you have no control over.

It cannot be fun to do nothing but wallow in a state of perpetual hopelessness.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

To be fair - this one line made me understand them.... I complain about Canada... A LOT.

I imagine everyone is a super fan around here.

I totally get the frustration in the heat of the moment. I also get some folks can’t let some things go, but it doesn’t make them any less of a fan. Heck some of the complaints are more than fair.

We all process a little different. But I think we all want the same thing.

I just look forward to the time we win again and can all celebrate together.

I can only speak for myself. It's an outlet. I'm frustrated with the direction and apparent apathy of the organization as they stick to their old school ways that can't compete in today's NFL. I see them falling farther behind more teams every year and they don't seem to care.

Mike Tomlin's continued employment seems to be a higher priority than building a championship team at this point.

Honestly, I think the owners think: This guy has won - he just needs all the stuff around him again. Whether that be with Cowhers guys or not is irrelevant. He managed to coach the team to the Super Bowl... twice.

And legitimately, until the last 3-ish years, this team was a contender - they didn't win, but even after the Killer B's split, there were still considered one of the 3-4 top teams in the AFC. Just like *this* season, the Bills, Bengals AND Chiefs were all considered contenders.

A couple of times, the team had injuries (Shazier, AB) at bad times. A couple of times, they just stank up the joint.

But, I don't think it's about X's and O's with him. If that's what you expect, you'll forever be disappointed. With Tomlin, it's about his ability to read and motivate players and push the right buttons. I believe this was true for both Cowher and Tomlin.

Both need(ed) excellent coordinators to orchestrate plays on the field because you won't get that from them. What you will get is a guy who can motivate a football player to run through a brick wall.

The problem right now is that this team doesn't have excellent coordinators - which is an extremely bad pairing with Mike Tomlin.

If you have LeBeau designing that defense and Tomlin firing them up? You're cooking with Crisco.

If you have Canada designing and calling plays with Tomlin firing them up? You could win an NCAA title -

Well thought out post, but I think the coordinator problem is Tomlin's - these are his guys. He seems to be gaining more and more control as the years go by.

I can agree that amy problems with coordinators falls on Tomlin.

He cannot be a victim of the very coordinators that he chose.

                        Why am I here?

                        That's a profound question, isn't it?

Why am I here? Why are any of us even here?

perhaps a discussion better suited for a philosophy board, or a religious forum, than it is for Planet Steelers?

                          I think this is correct.

I also think Rooney sales him lower in the bed he makes because we don't fire coordinators, we let their contracts run out.

As you said above.. Just got to live with it.

I believe the bigger key to coaching is what play should be called based on a team's tendencies on offense or defense?

People complained about Lebeau plenty as good as he was I remember the constant complaints about the LeBeau cushion.

He can hire a time outs clock management coach and a red flag coach bright enough to review all RED zone players, especially when you score.

Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***
