read something that i had forgotten about.

that first pick on the 2nd day of the draft is usually a prized pick. with a player usually dropping and the other teams trying to possible trade up to get those falling players.

we can make out even better then we already have

Too bad this doesn't count as a 2nd first round pick, we could have gotten two guys on the fifth year option. Still pumped about this...

        Good point.

But then it comes down to, do we want the prized guy or do we settle for a couple of mediocre guys from the extra picks?

I think we’d be more likely to try and trade up into the 1st.

Just looked at the player draft as the 1st pick in the 2nd for the last 10 years and the only really good player I noticed selected at that spot is Tee Higgins.

Maybe it’s not a good slot to be in?

Nice catch NJ. Teams see players who they didn't think would drop out of the first round and have a day to salivate. They say to each other that if they notice him, everyone else must too. They want to make sure they get him and place a call before day 2 begins to make sure they get their guy with the first round grade - like Mason Rudolph.

Very possible. With a nice little trade back down a few spots while adding a third round pick too! I like the idea of acquiring more picks cause we need a quantity of picks to add some quality depth at a few positions. I don’t want any trade ups. We are still
Licking our wounds for trading up for that bust pick in Bush.

We have the stud WR, now we need Pickett to target him more and reduce Johnson's targets. You would think that after watching Pickens' catch radius that Pickett would automatically be looking for him more often.

                  Interesting point. Lots of leverage.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Maybe he needs to work on his route running.

I don't know why people keep asking this. Do people think EVERY QB WHO HE PLAYS WITH seems to target the guy who drops passes because they like him?

He DJ HATES Mitch, fought with him and verbalizes his clear preference for Kenny like nobody else and MITCH targeted DJ a ton the last time he played.

We all love the kid, but he needs to get open more. That has been happening more lately, hopefully it keeps happening with offseason work.

Doesn't every play have a primary target and order of progression, or is that all up to the QB to pick the one he wants? I know early on after Pickens made his first couple of big catches, Tomlin slammed on the breaks, citing the "potential of negativity" if he just looked downfield to GP all the time.

Tomlin probably has a constipation problem as he worries about running out of toilet paper.
