    Is it time to reevaluate...

    Matt Canada's offense?

Against Atlanta, he had their defense on their heels from the first step.

As much as many want him burned at the stake, maybe it was just a matter of learning and growing into this offense.

They're doing more now, using the entire field, for example, but they still only scored 19 on a terrible D, 3 in the 2nd half, where the offense dies every week. Too many jets to Gunner and Sims still, may as well put a flashing light on their helmets when they're in. And as I pointed out in the game thread a couple times, they just aren't good enough to string together 15-play drives, most teams aren't, something is going to break down.

Which was part of the reason why I posted the explosive play trend. They are not gonna scare the good defenses. Pickens is probably the only gamechanger on offense. And he was ignored for most of the game.... (some chatter about being held out first half due to his antics...?)

He celebrated with Heyward when he scored. He needs to control his body language better but at least I know he wants to win and isn’t sulking after a TD.

I think they’re still easing Kenny along and will open up a little more as he gets reps.

Even Kenny at this point admits he’s figuring out when and where to throw to guys before the come out of their breaks.

I think the team is also limiting his reads and keeping the O simple.

I think they want to keep it simple for him and limit mistakes and then we’ll see more over time.

I think we're generally seeing improvement through the year.

We're better at moving the ball now.

But we need to get better at scoring TDs.

It's not a fast process and progress isn't linear.

I still think that we should bring in a better OC next year. But if we continue to look like we're improving, I could see us stand pat (because that's what the Steelers like doing).

I know Canada walks on water... that must mean he can't swim...
If jets sweeps net the Steelers first downs, I want one in there every series...

can i be honest... last week before this game, the Steelers were 80,000 to 1 to win the SB... I was going to put a $10 bet on it cuz why not.... except draft kings won't let me in my area... LOL.

If they literally beat split with Balt and win the rest, I think they're a wildcard (I have not looked at standings to verify that this is possible, it's just typically where the teams fall record wise for a wild card)

Wildcard is a tough route because of all the AFC East losses - all four teams ahead of the Steelers, need at least one to finish a game behind. Then there's Cincy/Balt, both 3 games ahead.

Steelers need to win out to have a shot, I think.

I think Canada comes back next year.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

When KP gets a multi-TD game, then we have something to get excited about.

Receivers are terrible at YAC except for Muth. DJ and Pickens are far down the list. Part of this has to be play design. Almost every other game I watch there are catches where receivers with no DBs within 5 yards. It seems the Steelers always have someone draped over them when the ball arrives. Is it a late throw, poor route design, poor receiver?

And I keep hearing DJ is the most open but I am starting to wonder if that is because no defense really fears YAC from him. Tackle the catch after a 3 yd curl. He's regressed badly after the catch. Last season avg'd over 5 yds/rec, this season he is less than half that. On one catch he again ran backwards in yesterday's game (not to the same degree as the others). His penchant to run to sidelines after the catch isn't helping the offense. And DJ's avg 'cushion' is near the bottom of the league, Pickens is third worst.

I gotta believe it's play design because there is no way every PIT receiver is that bad. Canada should not stay. But he probably will because they will point to the last half of the season as evidence of his greatness.

If he can start putting up over 20 points a game, as a norm., then we can start feeling confident. Even in this game, he failed to put up 20 points.
