Coming Together Against Good Defenses

BTW, Lamar was PFF's top rated QB last week, followed by Kenny, after a 2nd pass through grades. They said 5 passes were drops, 3 would have been TDs.Comment

The “eat a d!ck” was funny.. but a terrible look, especially in a contract year at a position of leadership.
Players need to get off social media. But I also think directly contacting a player with this type of dig kinda deserves a nice clap back.
There was a show called Average Joe or something along those lines where fans got to play against retired pro athletes. Kordell was on there and a fan challenged him to actually run at him instead of using his speed to run by him. Kordell knocked that dudes shoes off.
I wonder how the Ravens front office viewed this. There had to be a slight chuckle while telling him to knock this sh!t off.. lolSteelers 27

I think the show was called Pros vs. Joes, it was actually pretty good. Most of the "Joes" weren't just the average couch potato types, they were pretty good, accomplished players at lower levels - like D3 players etc. Pros would mostly toy around but you could see the differences. The “eat a d!ck” was funny.. but a terrible look, especially in a contract year at a position of leadership.

Agree with players getting off of social media. On one side you have an elite athlete about to negotiate a contract, on the other side you have Joe six pack whose greatest accomplishment to date is getting Lamar Jackson to respond to him on Twitter. To one of them, there is no affect on his life. On the other hand, something stupid like this might cost the other one more money annually than the first guy will see in his lifetime.Comment

I don’t see why Lamar has to win a SB to get the best contract.
Not saying this is your take but I often hear about how he needs to prove he deserves it. Watson, Cousins, Murray, Dak and countless others were paid big money without having to prove they could win consistently in the playoffs.Steelers 27

Flacco too.
Almost anything can happen in single game elimination tournaments IMO.Comment

To get the highest contract at your position, you generally need to be (i) pretty good and (ii) be the most recent contract signed.I don’t see why Lamar has to win a SB to get the best contract.

I think Lamar will be the highest contract ever when he signs. And that he'll get passed probably the following year or two.
I think the cap is supposed to go up a fair amount next year too (but maybe it's the following year).
So maybe it's more like: To get the highest contract at your position, you generally need to be (i) pretty good, (ii) be the most recent contract signed, and be a UFA when (iii) the cap is increasing (preferably by a lot) and (iv) play a position who's relative value is increasing (i.e. not RB...although even then I bet it still happens).Last edited by Northern_Blitz; 12-01-2022, 02:38 PM.Comment

It's not my take. But I wonder what happens if Lamar is one-and-done in the playoffs with an average-to-dismal performance? What kind of contract are the Rats going to offer him?I don’t see why Lamar has to win a SB to get the best contract.

Probably the same as QB’s like Kyler, Dak, Cousins and Watson.
None of these guys have gone far in the playoffs yet all were paid handsomely.Steelers 27

None of the mega QB contracts signed recently are working out well (Mahomes excluded). There's a lesson there somewhere.Comment

I'm starting to see balimorons say he's making "business decisions" when running the ball now because he's not guarenteed anything after this season is over. and some of the same people are now not willing to give him the contract he was reportedly looking for in the off season. When I read it, homophobic didn't come to mind. But extremely poor taste in a public forum did. At best, immature as hell. I could also see how someone might interpret it as anti-gay, as if eating a d@!k is one of the worst things a guy could possibly do.
In any case, Lamar seems to be melting down. He bet on himself for this season, snubbed a huge contract offer from the Rats and it's not going the way that it went for Flacco when he did it. I'm not really anti-Lamar but I'm definitely anti-Rats and I hope they crash and burn the season away.
that surprised me because from i've read (in a afc North group of fans) from them before the season started was 99.9% of them wanted the front office to fork over as much as lamaar was looking forComment

i think their reported offer before the season started was right around what the top paid guys were making. even more per year ($50M) the bonus money was a little less, but not something to sneeze at ($133 guaranteed)
supposedly lamaar wanted it all guaranteed, like watson's contact.
I doubt the raven front office offers that and if he doesn't give in a little on te bonuses, he may not be a raven in the near futureComment

Only legit QB's like Mahomes, Watson, Allen, Burrow has a shot at a fully guaranteed contract. What the Vikings did that year was a mistake with Cousins, and the Ravens would be making the same mistake with Jackson. Most QB's will still operated (contract wise) the way it's been operating. But I could see any of those 4 get a fully guaranteed contract and I'd think it was justified because of what they can do on the field in the regular season and playoffs.i think their reported offer before the season started was right around what the top paid guys were making. even more per year ($50M) the bonus money was a little less, but not something to sneeze at ($133 guaranteed)

Watson got a fully guaranteed contract because Cleveland has been hunting for a franchise QB for decades.Only legit QB's like Mahomes, Watson, Allen, Burrow has a shot at a fully guaranteed contract. I don’t think we will ever see another contract like that anytime soon.Steelers 27
