We allowed 6 in both of the last 2 games, not good. OL is said to be better at rush blocking but giving up more sacks now. KP is taking some blame, but a lot of blame still deserves to be on the OL. Moore is still terrible. Whoever decided to ride with him as our only legit LT this season screwed to poochie badly on that call. I knew it being his 2nd year was not the cure-all so many claimed it would be. "But Moore will be in his 2nd year, so he is gonna improve by a lot." Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Wrongo, bucko.

Do you want the quick, 2-yard passing offense or one that takes a few shots to keep the defense loose and assists in run blocking because the box isn't as stacked?
Unless you have an elite line, that's the choice you have to make. And that's a problem that most teams have to weigh - this isn't anything that's uniquely Steelers2013 MNF Executive Champion! -
No, what's "uniquely Steelers" is fielding the cheapest OL in the NFL. That typically also comes with being the (one of) least talented.Do you want the quick, 2-yard passing offense or one that takes a few shots to keep the defense loose and assists in run blocking because the box isn't as stacked?

that will happen with longer routes and trying to take shots downfield.
my frustration is the replay showing WR’s 15 yards downfield and they aren’t even looking back for the ball.
but I also think on a few sacks/scrambles Kenny had RB’s in the flat but didn’t look.Steelers 27

Moore needs to improve if he's going to be starting in 23. He's got 8 games to do that or not. KP8's blind side must be protected.
I'm inclined to believe we'll either draft a LT early or sign a f/a n not just a journeymen. Dotson is not that reliable next to him.
Got to believe we'll invest a draft pick or two in 23 to remedy this matter. I'm not sold on Cole either so I want it to just play out so before we're to critical or to complimentary let the season finish.Comment

LT is a need, or get a big RT is the draft and move Chucks to left.https://triblive.com/sports/tim-benz...ffensive-line/

We have real problems, we have OL issues, and work division RB issues, not to mention bad coaching and an under perfuming rookie QB! I would say our kicking game is fine but Boswell is hurt and we had a good replacement in, but Tomlin chose to keep a man who's worse.Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.
Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.
*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***Comment

Another puzzling Shades move. He must "feels good vibes" with Wright so he kept him. It's all about who is buddies with Shades.LT is a need, or get a big RT is the draft and move Chucks to left.

It's a timing thing. They have a couple of vets with middling contracts, Chuks making $10M, and a couple players on rookie deals. Just 4 years ago they had a top 10 paid OL. Their bigger problem is the misses on OL in the draft. That can set a team back years. Gotta do better. I'm hoping Weidl brings some new thinking to the draft next year.Comment

Paying Chucks, Daniel's, and Cole more than we did would not have made the OL better.
And I don't think paying more for the 30+ year old vets that got more than the guys we brought in lines up with the potential window we have for competing at a high level.
Drafting OL earlier would maybe have helped but it means not having Kenny (Mitch still starting) or not having Pickens. Maybe we can put Leal in there too, but then people would call that late like drafting Green.Comment

Kenny took some sacks last week because he was afraid to pull the trigger. But since he didn't turn it over, Boss Mike gave him a cold drink after the game and half a day off of road crew.
(Seriously, nobody gets the Cool Hand Luke references?)Comment

1.) Don't take many swings on the OL in the draft, and
2.) Don't take any higher picks then the 3rd or 4th or 5th on the OL.
Both make misses a much higher probability. And that describes Pgh for the last decade. Thanks Shades. And Colbert.Comment

Agreed. When you lose 4 of 5 with Chuks being the only one remaining, that's a lot to replace. It's a timing thing. But, you don't panic and spend it all in the FA market because you'll overpay. You do some patchwork and hope you can fill in in the draft. They drafted a T, G and C in recent years - and they seem to have missed, though the T and G may be really good backup material. Still, I see a T and possibly G coming this next season and the o-line should actually be solid (assuming "hits" in the draft).
At the moment, I'm having a hard time seeing them pass on Paris Johnson, given his position flexibility. I'm saying 50-50 Paris vs the field if he's on the board.2013 MNF Executive Champion!Comment

Unfortunately you may be mistaking what would be board (and fan) consensus with what you expect the FO to do.
I think we mostly all hope that it would happen but this team has not shown any level of commitment in the OL and we are praying that a new GM combo will lead to a focus on the line. The best that I could say here is that I am less sure that the line will be ignored the way it was under Colbert.Comment
