To me, Pickett clearly looks to be the most accurate passer while rolling out or on the run. Trubisky did a fantastic job of evading the rush last night, but he does not appear to be as accurate and smooth as Pickett is while on the move. I cited that badly missed TD bomb to a wide-open DJ as an example. But the coaches seemed to intentionally roll the pocket more with Pickett at QB and I think they are taking advantage of this skillset by doing so. I didn't chart the plays or anything, but I could have sworn they did this far more with Pickett than the other guys acknowledging the small sample size). I also don't remember QB pressure being a factor in the short time he was in the game.

Pressure was definitely an issue for the other two. At first, they dropped Mason straight back on all his passes and it was looking more like the 1st quarter with Mitch running for his life. When they started intentionally moving his pocket, Mason's passing improved. But Rudolph doesn't have nearly the wheels that either Trubisky or Pickett does - and again Pickett seems to be superior to both of them while throwing on the run.

In my opinion, Pickett might be the best choice right now to start at QB and it's primarily because of the poor offensive line. That said, I still likely would start Trubisky to begin the season. At the first sign of trouble, Pickett should be ready to take over. Mason needs to stay with the team in the event that either Trubisky or Pickett get hurt. There is no way that a 5th or 6th round draft choice is worth the insurance policy he brings.
I don't necessarily disagree with your assessment of KP's makeup. I think I would assess risk/reward of such a decision.

I feel the risk in the event of shell shock or a potential major injury because of this crap-tastic line isn't worth the risk of our potential franchise QB.

Let the journeyman Tribusky get hammered and let the new braintrust finally get it through their thick skulls they need bona-fide talent on the oline.

I know it's a more risk averse approach but I get your points.

It's a tough call because Picket obviously looks better then the other two, but do you really want to place a rookie behind this line? He was taking hits last night, and I sense that one Jax defender actually let up on him when he could have cleaned his clock, (it was #48 on the pass to Muth).

It's a huge gamble in my opinion, even if he's the best QB on the roster. Ask Burrow what might happen.

I guess if you make it to the Super Bowl in year 2, that might be ok.

If Pickett is the best of the lot he has to play.
They can use max protect n 2 man routes. Miami Dolphins 2021 O...... bubble screens , drags ,12 peronnel etc. Our O in 21 got the ball out in under 2.0 either way. Hell we may even see a fullback on the field in22. Imagine that. Not the best way to design an O but it may buy Pickett a year to develop further until we can obtain a few road graders who can also pass block.

That's the upside of it in year two.

Exactly. And the Bengal's line was still crappy last year.

The rolling pocket is just one way to compensate for the poor offensive line play. Like IC stated, mix in max protect schemes, screens, draws, misdirection, and quick crossers. The jet sweep also seems like a big part of Canada's offense and stuff like that will help as well.

Roll with Mitch to start and have the rookie ready.

Dan Moore is terrible. Not made the second year jump. I assume Haeg must be having a bad camp not to get ahead of Moore’s performance.

Green is not an NFL lineman. Not good. At all.

For being the big FA signing, Daniels needs to improve 100% to get to mediocre. Bad in both preseason games.

From the first play the line was getting caved in. Embarrassing. Film study will not be fun.

Last 6 drafts - Okorafor, Dotson, Green, Moore, Holba (LS - cut) - Here’s what the Steelers have done to “sure up” the line. Just horrific.

I would respectfully disagree. Coaches can't make up that much for lack of talent. Players play. Coaches coach. Players need to execute. Drafting better players solves a lot of issues. This is going to take a draft or perhaps 2 to fix.

knew Moore would struggle against Walker.

Not making excuses but Walker and this Jags front 7 have been in the backfield in all their preseason games.

For those who believe these numbers mean something.

Green no longer at the bottom! ....progress!

Okie a bright spot, I'll take it. If they start Green over Dotson the team needs to stage a mutiny.
