Madden: Steelers champs of false bravado

You've noticed that? I'll be honest if we won a playoff game since 2016, I might just look the other way and not pay attention to it. But we didn't. I find it hilarious that another poster ( I won't say his name ) blasts Bill B. for losing his last payoff game, as if he isn't good enough in a lame attempt to excuse Tomiln for not winning one in six years.I hear what you're saying. I've felt this way for several years now. It's gets harder and harder to watch this team under Tomlin's leadership. Without causing too much of a controversy, I'll only say that, "this definitely ain't a Bill Cowher or Chuck Noll led team, that is for sure".Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.
Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.
*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***Comment

I don't think that's true... He just has a winning relationship with words.... A lot of people hate him 'cause they ain't him....I think the team is taking on the personality of its coach. After all Tomlin is the king of false bravado. Little substance behind his coach speak. Nevertheless, I hope Tomlin doesn't release hell on the fanbase all season. Wait a minute, he's already doing this with Matt Canada.Comment

If you don't have swagger, you'll get eaten alive in the NFL... Look at any of the coaches going from college to the NFL... Who is the last coach that's successfully made that move?? The "antics" are after actual successes where the Steelers did what they said they did... the "'tude" is justified for a moment, not a season....Anyone paying bare minimum attention to this team can see the head coach is responsible for festering the "I'm too cool for school" 'tude, or whatever you want to call it. It even goes beyond Shades just being an "enabler" of it, evidence suggests he is also a generator of sorts of this 'tude. Whether it be from his personal antics of beating his chest, blowing kisses to the camera, dancing or swinging his whistle, "the fish stinks from the head" as does a team. He creates and enables this "me, me, me, look at me" 'tude that is leads to a non-winning attitude.Comment

You mean anyone paying bare minimum attention to this team who sees the world through the same distorted lens you and others here do. First of all, Madden has no valid point here. Athletes say these types of things all of the time - it's not something relegated to the culture or drinking water in Pittsburgh. Madden is nothing but a bloviated cheesedick, who peddles in salacious garbage. If the National Enquirer had a sports section, he'd be the ideal editor-in-chief. There is literally nothing to see here, yet in the doldrums of the offseason news cycle, everyone is jumping all over Claypool. Madden is going one step further by trying to incite the fan base with this disturbing pattern of bravado he's uncovered. What's next, the team chef will declare he's got the best chicken parmesan not just in the league, but in the entire country!Anyone paying bare minimum attention to this team can see the head coach is responsible for festering the "I'm too cool for school" 'tude, or whatever you want to call it. Mamma Mia!!
I'm sure all you haters love slurping up Madden's BS and will gladly use any of his (or anyone's) ridiculousness to further advance your entrenched agenda against Tomlin. I have to say though, that I find it humorous to take such a non-issue and watch you guys fall all over yourselves trying to weaponize it. Y'all keep enjoying your offseason of hate and gloom!!

While the recent lack of playoff wins is frustratingly annoying, Tomlin's resume still holds up. Hopefully the Steelers and Tomlin will start adding positively to the resume as opposed to what we've seen in the post season the past several years.
This is from an article in Sept. of 2021, taking out the hoodie's obviously rediculous resume with Marcia:
Mike Tomlin (15 years coaching)
5-2 record in playoffs through first four seasons as the Steelers head coach
Since 2010 Super Bowl appearance, 3-6 since through 2020 season
8-8 all-time playoff record
Qualified for playoffs 9/14 seasons
2 Super Bowl appearances, 1 Super Bowl win
Sean Payton (15 years coaching)
Since winning the Super Bowl in 2009, Payton has a 5-7 playoff record (including 2020)

1 Super Bowl win and appearance
Note: suspended from coaching for the 2012 season due to “Bountygate”
John Harbaugh(13 years coaching Rats)
Harbaugh has only 2 playoff wins in the last 8 seasons since winning Super Bowl XLVII
Like Tomlin, Harbaugh inherited Hall of Fame players such as Ed Reed and Ray Lewis on his Super Bowl winning team
Despite winning 14 games and having the NFL MVP as his quarterback, the Ravens failed to win a playoff game in 2019, exiting early
Total of 4 postseason appearances in the last 8 seasons
11-8 overall playoff record
1 Super Bowl win and appearance
Pete Carroll (14 years coaching)
3 playoff wins in last 6 seasons
10-8 overall playoff record (with Seattle – 11-10 overall including stint with New England)
1 playoff win in last 4 seasons (3 appearances, 2 early exits)
2 Super Bowl appearances
1 Super Bowl win
Tom Landry (29 years coaching)
1 win in first 10 seasons with the Cowboys
20-16 overall playoff record (29 years coaching)
Two-Time Super Bowl Champion (Five appearances)
Enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame
Tony Dungy(13 years coaching, 2 teams)
2 wins in his first 7 seasons
6 winless postseasons
9-10 overall playoff record
1 Super Bowl win and appearance
Enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame
Bill Parcells(19 years coaching)
Following his 1989 Super Bowl victory, Parcells had a total of 3 wins in 11 seasons (multiple teams)

19-17 overall playoff record
2x Super Bowl Champion
1x NFL Champion (pre-Super Bowl era)
6 Super Bowl appearances
Famously lost Super Bowl III to Joe Namath
Enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame
Bill Cowher (15 years coaching)
4 playoff wins in an 8 season span
12-9 overall playoff record
2 Super Bowl appearances
1 Super Bowl championship
Enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame
Chuck Noll(23 years coaching)
2 playoff wins in first 12 seasons

I don't see Cowher or Noll blowing a kiss to opponent fans after a win. There should be some decorum, some class as a head coach. I don't think there are many high school head coaches who would do this. Is it any wonder his players act up?I hear what you're saying. I've felt this way for several years now. It's gets harder and harder to watch this team under Tomlin's leadership. Without causing too much of a controversy, I'll only say that, "this definitely ain't a Bill Cowher or Chuck Noll led team, that is for sure".

Not true. Hoodie easily won the first 3 super bowls. Brady was a game manager back then. Not the Brady we see today. Patriots won the first 3 Super bowls with defense and running the ball. Anybody who's old enough that watched the games knows that. Come on NC, your better then that.Comment

Pretty sure that stat line on Noll is inaccurate ... he had to have had more than 2 playoff wins in his first 12 seasons. He became Steelers' head coach in 1969, and had won 4 Super Bowls by 1980.While the recent lack of playoff wins is frustratingly annoying, Tomlin's resume still holds up. >>> *** Took over a super bowl team, loaded with talent, HOF players and under achieved big time relevant to his talent. And unlike the other coaches inherited a winner.
has been a loser in the playoffs for a long time, the longest such streak on the list.
Drilling down his game day decisions, use of the red flag, hiring of OC's and DC's and clock management stink. Questionable culture due to many Diva's too. And his coaching tree of guys promoted to head coaches is zero. In fact a good coach creates his own system. Tomlin wears no head set or even does sideline coaching. There, I fixed it for ya. ***
