Given that most of your running backs are not signing a second big contract it is more detrimental to their lively hood not to let them touch the ball a lot early in their career. A back has to play on his rookie deal for 4 years, then if he signs a deal it's usually at least another 4 years, now he has been in the league for 8 years and looking for another deal, this scenario is incredibly unlikely. If you start a guy off splitting snaps then give him a low ball deal and continue to split his snaps, what chance do you think that he eventually signs a big deal or picks up endorsement deals, it's so unlikely, you didn't help that guys career.
Homey (Harris) don't play that

It's an example of how they can produce when you don't "run the wheels off them" as Shades brags about.Comment

Optimizing the career of any one player shouldn't be something they think about IMO.
In fact, I think they should be kind of trying to see how they can get the most production for the least cap hit. Because that's how you maximize the talent on your team.Comment

I think teams should be in the business of maximizing their chances to win.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Right after a season (2020) when Henry had 378 carries. THAT was the season he became a superstar.
For reference Najee had 306 carries.
The last time we had a back with that many carries it was JEROME BETTIS. I blame Tomlin for that while a receiver AT WILLIAM AND MARY. Before that it was BARRY FOSTER who had EVEN MORE carries (nearly 400). Clearly Tomlin was calling our plays from from HIGH SCHOOL.Last edited by Captain Lemming; 06-12-2022, 12:24 AM.sigpic
