The evidence you gave shows clearly they were better. In one case one man was old. How will Bush be covering at 32? Worse! Bush gave up 70+% as a rookie. Find a player that bad in his prime,. Check the charts. For QB's 5-7% more accuracy is the difference between good and pro bowl level. Think of that. The Steelers know Bush was be picked on in coverage. That's why Spillane played at times, and Bush went to the bench. Fact. I shift no goal posts, I simply use x steelers and 3rd party options that he is NOT good. I don't write them. You can accept the facts, or remaining ignorant to them. Or debate them which you do not so.Really that's your answer, You made the claim that the completion percentage against bush was terrible, I gave you the percentages of the top backers at the position, the numbers do not support that. Now you want to throw out the numbers and say it's based on your personal observation and a few cherry picked comments from other people. Now you are trying shift the goal posts to the 5th year option, when my response was to your claim about completion percentage stats. It's pretty black and white, either you can support that claim or you can't.
See the difference in how I answer questions? I use examples and interpret the stats. I also use football examples. You just say cherry pick and move the goal posts.
***>>>*** To sum up once again, Bush is below average compared the his peers that start. He's short, has sHort arms, lacks a feel for coverage, and can not match up with TE's WR, or speedy backs. He is not a man to man coverage guy! No way. He's a zone coverage guy and lacks football IQ in coverage which hurt him. Teams target him. I debate these points. Don't cherry pick or move the gaol posts from this conversation and feel free to degree with x Steelers linebackers like Mosts and Shazier, and media people who point out his inadequacies. If I choose the add in there opinion. Listing Bush who you say is good in coverages yet gave up 70+% if his plays ( above the league passing average ) is FACTUAL. He has never been below 66%, others have multiple times.
END.Last edited by Joel Buchsbaum; 06-06-2022, 01:39 PM.Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.
Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.
*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***Comment

I think you cherry picked a stat and thought you had something there but the reality says other wise.
Thing is, no one needs a percentage comp to admit how bad Bush was last year. We have 2 eyes and no one.. I repeat NO ONE will disagree about his play in 2021.
He was trash last year. Bjt his rookie year? No way.. he played as well as any ILB we have seen their rookie year as a Steeler besides Contact aka Chad Brown.
Contact is the only ILB I can think of who played better but IMO it was primarily as a blitzer. I can’t remember how he performed in coverage.
Wait, I missed a whole page of people tearing you a new one. Damn man.. they really exposed your argument better than I could.
Maybe you should try again in a few days with a new stat?Last edited by feltdizz; 06-06-2022, 01:57 PM.Steelers 27

He was far for Shazier in coverage! He wasn't a prime Timmons either. Get real. Chad Brown wasn't that good and that was a long time ago.
Once again Bush gave up 67.6 % as a rookie ( worse the average by the standers of his peers ) 5 Td's which is bad, and 435 yards against, which is a lot of yards. Qb's rated 97.4 against him as a rookie. 2 ints is nice, but the rest is weak. That is his rookie year. Far form " great "
Again, his stats:

Wrong. He was past tense a good blitzer. Why was it stopped? Because teams ran at him. He visibly declined in coverage in year TWO before he hurt his knee. Yes his team was playing well with Tuitt and Alualu protecting him and Ben still being " operational ".2
Stop using his knee injury for an excuse before and after it happened. He wasn't given a 5ht year option for a reason! He's weak vs the run, can't shed blocks worth a darn ( he wasn't asked to as a rookie ) and is useless coverage. Did I mention his lack of instincts and not working hard enough. Get with the program. He is what he is. Here are his stats.
Note he allowed 70.2 % of his passes complete on him when he was a rookie. This is very high, then the Steelers limited him in coverage. Go ahead you won't find many DB's or LB's who gave up that percentage in coverage. It because he's weak! Show me the others you find, if you can.

Yeah. Even before the injury he struggled with bigger TE’s ( isn’t that the position ilb’s shoukd be covering Mikey?? )
this “excellent in pass coverage” s going a bit overboard.Comment
